I can’t remember a time when music didn’t play a huge part in my life. My earliest memory is picking out songs by ear on the piano and hearing my mother tell my father, "We'd better get this kid piano lessons." I was 4. Since then, music—both playing it and listening to it— has been my solace and my satisfaction. I have a great t-shirt a friend gave me that says in French: “Without music, life would be a mistake.” That just about sums it up for me. I have seen countless shows at venues and music festivals all over the country. I’ll happily travel to see live music, though I consider it transporting in and of itself.
