Good books are like great movies; the more emotions they wring out of me, the better. 4) simply being with my family and/or friends whether simply hanging out or celebrating a holiday.
Places I want to visit: Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Hawaii (my sons and I really want to see Pearl Harbor and try snorkeling, and maybe zip lining.
I love movies that make me laugh or cry. IРІР‚в„ўm told my laughter is contagious-it can certainly be heard to my kidsРІР‚в„ў chagrin. But hey crying is cathartic! Besides my kids find it hilarious that I cry at movies. I grew up watching old classics (eg, Stella Dallas-now thereРІР‚в„ўs a tear-jerker), I Love Lucy and John Wayne and still love РІР‚?em. For TV, Grimm, Supernatural, Touch, True Blood, Ellen, Family Guy, So You Can Think You Can Dance, Ghost Whisperer re-runs.
My passion? Besides my children, the written word! I’ve been scribbling stories for years achieving a small modicum of success w/magazines and a few published personal essays and children’s stories, but the novel alludes me. It’s like the classic horror movie scene–someone is running desparately down a long hallway and the faster they run the longer the hallway gets. I’m gonna keep running (or writing) and see if I can reach the end! My day job, the one that pays the bills, interferes a bit! Having a passion I think makes us soulfully richer.
I have two sons, 13 and 19. IРІР‚в„ўve been a single mom for a decade and motherhood is my most important job. My youngest just wrapped spring select soccer but football starts soon. IРІР‚в„ўve been a cubscout leader, baseball scorekeeper, booster and soccer mom. So if thatРІР‚в„ўs a problem, IРІР‚в„ўm not the girl for you. IРІР‚в„ўm very close with my parents (proudly married over 50 years); they live in Vegas and yes our blood has a bit of the gambler running thru it, along with those of outlaws of the old west and American Indian. My mom is amazing, strong yet old-fashioned. My dad is a cowboy to his marrow. And yes I had a pony growing up (and goat, pig, chickens) and had to clean up after them. But my dad always said chores make kids stronger so I make mine do 'em too. And I'm privileged to have a few very close girlfriends whom I've known since elementary and middle school.
