For example, I'm mostly disinterested in sports and I tend to like wine more than beer (just don't tell any of my mountain bike buddies or they might kick me out of our little clique). I'm an engineer by trade and education but please don't let that scare you away - I'm one of the few engineers they let work in outside sales so you know I've got at least a minimal set of social skills and I clean up nicely when the situation calls for it. I'm not much of a fashionista but on those somewhat rare occasions when I have to tie a tie, I always remember how (and don't worry, I don't own anything that says "Ed Hardy" on it). I'm right-handed in everything I do except eat. There's a logical explanation for this behavior which I'd be happy to share in more detail if you ask. Other than bumping elbows occasionally in restaurant booths, I love eating left-handed. I also LOVE cereal and I have this weird habit of mixing two different kinds together (but nothing so odd as say, Raisin Bran with Cocoa Puffs. That would be disgusting). I've got a few stamps in my passport, I know the difference between "your" and "you're", I don't have any debt collectors chasing after me, I can manage most minor household plumbing projects with a minimum number of trips to the Home Despot, dogs usually like me and aside from a bad habit of blowing through red metering lights on freeway on-ramps, I tend to follow the rules.
As for you, here's a fairly brief wish-list: you're cute, you're available (i.e., I don't have to schedule a coffee date with you two months in advance), you're not afraid of the outdoors, you think I'd be proud to take you home to Mom.

It's a little hard to talk about oneself so if I were to ask my friends and family to comment, I believe these descriptions and words would best describe me. First would probably be happy spirited. The glass is half full approach seems to get me out of a lot of stressful situations and help me with either problem solving or sleeping well at night. Regardless of most of the other attributes, if I can be known as someone who "attempts" to make people happier with my persona, words or advice, than I'll take that first. Not to say that I'll shy away from confrontation but if there's a chance to rationalize the problems, I'd rather take that approach. Next is I hope that my life experiences mixed in with a comfort for a little self humility has created a remarkable ability to be viewed as quick witted and clever. This may also be due to a background forced to network amongst strangers and needing the power of the quick analogies and clever retorts as a way to get through those events. In any case, friends and others like the engagement, in which "suprise," makes me happy to hear. I guess those two can be followed up with smart, witty and other cliches but I guess that would be left up to interpretation so I'll leave the rest of the attributes up to being similar to the next guy. If there's an attribute to being a "good" person, I hope that this is what I will ultimately be known for.
It's hard to specify preferences when it comes to dating. One thing I've learned very well is that once you've got it all figured out, someone will show you that there is this other world of traits, experiences, cultures and attributes that you didn't even think about. And some of these people have shown me so many different new things I couldn't imagine trying to specify.
