Date someone special from California, United States. Hello! My name is Amber and I am an enthusiastic elementary school teacher. Each day, I don my teacher cape and head into the classroom ready for the adventure of attempting to make learning an exciting journey for students while simultaneously ensuring 100% proficiency of all students in math and language arts (seriously, thats what the state of CA expects!). It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it :) I love the students and community I teach for and I feel passionately about my duty to my students as a teacher. I was a first grade teacher the first 4 years I taught. I am heading into my 5th year teaching and have been moved up to (gulp) 4th grade. This would be all well and good if the children didn't already tower over me at 10 years of age. Needless to say, I am curious about how this next year will go for me.
I went to Humboldt State University for my BA and teaching credential. I've gotten quite a few snickers from people when I tell them where I went to college. All I'm going to say is that I eat meat and I'm not a hairy hippie ;) I'd like to remain slightly mysterious.
I'd like to meet a person who loves what they do and feels certain about what they want in the future. You absolutely must love dogs, specifically, you must be open minded about pit bulls because Coco is one and she is fantastic. I'm looking for someone who wants a serious relationship and who is fun, outgoing, and has a great sense of humor (because we all tease the hell out of each other in my family). I'm going to have one moment of utter transparency on this profile and venture to say that I want to be swept off my feet by someone. I don't really think that's too tall an order to fill.
Here's an idea of some things I've done in the past year:
I visited Hawaii for the first time.
I went on my first cruise (it was awesome!).
Finished my 4th year teaching first grade.
Became a union representative at my school site.
Attended San Francisco's Beer Week festival.
Swam with a sea turtle and some humahumanukanukaapua'a's.
In the next year I would like to:
Travel to another country (Amsterdam and Italy are top on my list)
Make more friends
Visit more museums
Take an art class
Learn more about beer (learn to brew it perhaps?)
Go to more concerts
Visit Seattle
Read "Sense, Sensibility and Sea Monsters"
Find new places to hike with the dog
Go on some dates
Go to La Paz, Mexico
