I was born in the U.S. from Costa Rican-born parents. My mother is a former family psychologist secretary. My father was an aeronautical engineer. My parents met in the U.S. while they attended school.
I am perfectly comfortable working on the farm in Costa Rica with a machete and rubber boots or attending a black tie event.

Since I was a little girl and up to a couple years ago, I overloaded life with extracurricular activities; sports, advanced academics, student government, founder of a few organizations, leadership organizations, non-profit work, board positions, career advancement, etc. I also had my fair share of celebrating in clubs, bars and parties around the world, and that stage of my life is well in the past. Today, I value a good night sleep, eating well and exercising.
I have a wonderful family (all live in Costa Rica) and amazing lifelong friends (several live around the world). I am loyal to them and truly value spending time with them, even if that means I have to travel to see them. (I know, tough). I consider some cousins and lifelong friends siblings, their spouses family and their children my nieces and nephews. I love children and I take pride in being a good and fun "tia" (auntie).
As part of my undergraduate and graduate studies, I lived in Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East. And, served as a vice chancellor with the Costa Rican Consulate in Los Angeles. I have conviction for endeavors focused on international development and helping countries achieve greater socio-economic progress. I travel to Washington D.C. often.
