Date men and women from California, United States. I never know what to write in these things, but here we go!
I love to laugh. Since it's hard to quantify the type of humor I have, perhaps some examples will help: in the "musical" humor section, I love Victor Borge and PDQ Bach; in the TV section, I don't watch very much, but I find "The Big Bang Theory" quite funny; in the "Saturday Morning" TV section, I'm quite a fan of classic Warner Brothers (more Chuck Jones than Tex Avery); in the "watch with my son, but would watch anyway", there's "Spongebob Squarepants" and "Martha Speaks" (yes, really); Monty Python is always fun; and in the book section, Terry Pratchett (Discworld) and Douglas Adams (only the first three books) are nicely aligned with my sense of humor.
My favorite outdoor activity is running. I prefer long distances (8 miles or more) and I'm gearing up for even longer distances as I prepare to run another marathon in the fall (not to mention two half-marathons coming up before that). I love rock climbing, but I haven't been able to find the time to really get back into it (it's been many years since I've really climbed). I just signed up for some rock-climbing lessons to take with my 7-year old son, so that should be fun.
I've been going out more to hear live music in the smaller venues (The Independent, Slim's) lately, because there's something special about the connection with the band and the audience. It's also great to hear new bands that I never would have been exposed to otherwise (I was recently turned on to the Summer Twins, who opened up for Matthew Sweet).
I'm a voracious reader and I'm usually in the middle of reading a wide variety of books (and probably more than my fair share of blogs, essays, and tweets), with most of them on my iPad for easy access (and reference). I love words, playing with words (as in puns), and writing (I'm in the middle of writing two short books), which I struggle with because I take a lot of care (probably obsessively so) in finding just the right word to use. Alas, I can get easily lost in Roget's Thesaurus and forgetting about the great concept I was originally trying to express.
I play guitar and record my own songs on my digital studio (sounds impressive, but it's really just my computer and a lot of expensive software and gadgets), and even if nobody else likes it (let alone pays for it), I do it for myself as a creative outlet. There's really nothing like listening to one's own music and simply enjoying it.
So I realize I've written quite a lot about me, or at least the things I like doing and that make me laugh, but I haven't yet written what I'm looking for. Partially it's because if you found any connection to the above, then you might be that person. The other part is I after being married for 10 years and separated for almost 2, I don't yet have a clear enough vision of what I'm looking for to be able to put it into words. When I figure that out, I'll write more here.
Meet someone special from California, United States. I'm a 46-year-old native San Franciscan and I just moved to Foster City in May of 2012. I'm of European and Scandinavian decent and while my parents will celebrate 51 years of marriage on May 14, 2012, I have never made it down the aisle nor do I have any 2-legged children.
I have survived many of life's challenges over the years. The most recent one being stage 2 breast cancer. In doing so, I have learned to live my life without regret, as tomorrow is never promised.
I recently lost 24 lbs. I have posted a few recent photos showing what I currently look like for reference. As you can see you can rest assured that I was able to keep both my "T's ; A". Even though I had cancer, they are still all natural too! That is the good thing about catching it early.
While I enjoy spending the night on the town and the finer things in life, I am just as happy to cook dinner at home and watch a movie. I have a warm heart and I'm an honest and caring person. I am close to my family long-term friends. However, I don't let their opinions influence my decisions. I do listen to my 4-legged children's opinions as they have a very keen unique sense of being able to judge one's character. All three of my animals were rescued from shelters. As such they are grateful for having a loving place to call home.
I'm a huge music and comedy fan and I have been to a lot of concerts and comedy shows at both large and small venues. I also love to watch professional sports such as football, basketball, baseball and boxing, both at home and in person. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places and learning about different cultures.
My ideal man would be someone who has a sense of direction in his life. He should be mature without being stuffy and knows how to enjoy the little things that life has to offer. I don't ask for much, but I do demand respect and good judgment. He should definitely not be a control freak or have jealousy issues. He must have a sense of humor, and not be overly sensitive to my sarcastic sense of humor. He should not try to change me, but rather blend with the person I am. I also promise not to change you, but to accept the person you are. However, I do ask that any baggage that you carry please have it fit under the seat in front of you, as the overhead bin still too large.....if this sounds like you let me know.
