I’m non-judgmental, except when it comes to judgmental people (sort of like being intolerant of intolerant people). But they’re entitled to their opinion like everyone else. (Bless their hearts – if you’re from the south, you know what I mean).
I’m not well (widely) read, but I do read well. Since my current job requires a lot of technical report reading (and writing), most of my pleasure reading is used to put me to sleep at night. Historical fiction like Michener, SciFi (technical vs. fantasy). I have a Kindle, which is one of the best things in the whole wide world. Loved the Horatio Hornblower series, the whole Jack Aubrey/Steven Maturin series (The movie "Master and Commander" was made from a couple of the books), Water For Elephants.
What matters in my life:
Kids: They are our legacy, our life. One word can describe your feelings for them and yet you could probably write volumes about what they mean to you.
Fitness: These days, it’s more important to feel good than to look good. As long as you’re able to fog a mirror, and are happy with your activity level or exercise routine, then that’s all that matters. Personally, I’m done with the ultra-marathon/base jumping/Mt. Everest hiking lifestyle. As long as I get my heart rate up to 80-90% of max, 3-4 times a week for half an hour or so, I’m cool.
Music: It enhances the background of my life. KFOG , KFOX, Live 105 – that kind of music. Live, small venues are the best – think Fox Theater in Oakland (sorta small). And I hate sitting on the green at Shoreline/Concord or on the cement steps at Berkeley Greek – I need a regular seat!
Work: I've finally found out what I want to be when I grow up. Work is work, but the JOB is everything. Getting out of bed at 4:57 a.m.is easy.
YOU:
1. Won't mind if I take over your kitchen to cook (and I will clean up afterwards)
2. Are somebody I willingly sit in rush hour hell on a Friday afternoon to come and see.
3. Understand when I occasionally need my decompression/me time and can read my mind when I need it (don't worry, I don't go postal) and don't take it personal.
4. Can curse in a sophisticated and feminine fashion. And knows when it's appropriate! And also uses "dang it" with equal aplomb.
After that, it's gonna be (and I swore I wouldn't use this term...dang it!) a matter of chemistry, looks and good luck. And you gotta like cats...
It all boils down to this: What am I/are we, looking for? Simply put, to become part of each other’s routine. I don’t want to fit you into the schedule - I want you to be part of the whole thing. At this point in my life/our lives, routine is important. Get up, go to work, get home, feed the kids, do the chores – normal grown-up stuff. Occasionally do something out of the ordinary. There are those of us who do the extraordinary on a daily basis - and I applaud them. I like my routine, but there’s always room for improvement.

I am a divorced Dad of 2 living in Dublin. My kids are both in college locally and live with me. I run my own business so I have odd hours but can make myself free just about any time. I used to workout religiously (18 years, 4 to 6 days a week, never took more than 1 week off) but have slipped from the gym over the past couple of years. Anyway, I am trying to get back. I love playing golf, love movies and my biggest diet weakness is I love restaurants. Something about sitting in a restaurant where 2 people can talk without interruption and have their food and drink delivered to them is special to me.
Physically, I am a big guy, 6'4" tall. My shoulders actually can touch both sides of a door jam. I have brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee. I am also getting a little grey in there. Makes me look distinguished, lol.
What else? Oh, I just became a Grand Father. Someone said to me, "You look to young to be a Grandpa." I replied "I am". That said, she is a beautiful little girl and I cant wait till she is old enough for me to take her to DisneyLand.
