Meet someone special from California, United States. To clarify, I'm separated but the divorce is on file and there's no going back. I'm 62 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weigh 205 pounds. I don’t work out as such, but I take care of an acre of sloping ground, a house, cars, and miscellaneous tasks, which keeps me in reasonable shape, and I do exercise. I’m the son of a non English speaking immigrant mother and a blue collar father, and I’m proud to say I have a bit of the immigrant mentality in me. Neither of my parents finished the tenth grade. My mother and I learned to write English together as I went through grade school. Even so, I managed to make it through U.C. Davis and U.C. Hastings College of the Law. I’m a licensed attorney. I have practiced law, been corporate counsel, and for the last 21 years have been a public sector lawyer working for elected officials. “Public sector” means that I have earned a comfortable living but am not wealthy. I will be even less wealthy, but still in good shape with a public sector pension, when I retire in a few years. I grew up in the Bay Area, graduating from high school in 1966. This placed me squarely in the middle of the counter culture revolution, the Summer of Love, etc., and I participated with vigor. I have lived in Napa, Monterey, Mendocino, San Francisco, Sonora, Sacramento, Placerville and Paradise, CA. I have backpacked some 3,000 miles through the Sierra Nevada, Olympics, Yellowstone, and various other places. I have completed the John Muir and Tahoe-Yosemite Trails. Many of these trips were alone, with friends, or with now departed Australian Shepherds whose passing still hurts many years later. I am not a veteran but I have done classified work for the U.S. Government. I have two daughters, ages 28 and 38, both of whom are beautiful, powerful and successful women. My younger daughter lives in Wash., D.C. My elder daughter lives in Tempe, AZ with my grand daughter, age 4. I am proud to say that I raised the younger daughter for the most part by myself and that people who watched her grow up still express their admiration for her. In case you can’t tell, my daughters and grand daughter are my pride and joy. My politics are all over the place but not random. If you’re someone who is comfortable being labeled “liberal” or “conservative”, etc., you will surely find something in my opinions to disagree with, but you will also likely find much you can relate to. In general I’m an open minded person who still believes in freedom and “different strokes for different folks” just like back in the day. My approach to life is old school skepticism. I’m open to almost anything, but not without scrutiny. I have lots of friends, some of whom go all the way back to age 2, and we can and do still kick it on occasion. As for you, I hope to find that you also are a critical thinker, but not to the point of paralysis, and not an ideologue. I am most comfortable in the natural world. I am a pretty good photographer and have won a few awards, including at the California State Fair. I am an uber handy man with a work shop full of tools and can fix almost anything. I will admit that nowadays I am less inclined to undertake major chores like brake jobs and heavy work around the house. (I could, but just don’t want to). I have been married twice, both times for 13 years. I’m still pondering what, if anything, that means. I like some private time, but don't much like living alone, which is what I'm doing now. This is the first time in more than thirty years that I have only myself to look out for. I guess, in a way, that's exciting but it just doesn't feel right and I would rather have someone to enjoy the new found freedom with. It's just too quiet at home. I guess I miss the commotion from family and pets. I would like to find an attractive lady who believes, as I do, that the best approach to life is to take it head on with an ally, friend, and lover.
