Date someone special from Chico, United States. I like to keep my spirit of adventure alive by doing something I have not done before. Last summer I went to three different county fairs. At one I found a jewelry maker from Peru and bought a natural fiber cotton shirt with Peruvian art work. I took a trip to Brazil that was remarkable and enlightening. There, I traveled to a small mountain town reminiscent of a European village with cobble stoned streets and beautiful natural surroundings of forested hills and farms. I have enjoyed traveling across country in the US too. Often my trips are combined with contemplation in nature and photographing it. Or it could be a discovering a new place to eat in town, but I do like variety. I like to be purposeful through projects that help people to learn and grow. I enjoy making friends laugh with a witty observation.
Now that my children are out on their own I would like to meet a woman who can share my adventures. Some one to take care of and embrace with affection and respect. I am seeking one special woman with a sense of youthfulness to connect with on an emotional and spiritual level and through shared activities and interests.

Because of my profession, people usually expect me to be intellectual and work centered.. While I am often focused on the work I do, it is not what I am. On one hand I can be a mischievous child, a professional on the other, and lots of other things in between. Some other words that describe me are kind, compassionate, friendly, loyal, energetic, passionate, complex, and self-confidant (overly so sometimes). I am old fashioned in that I believe a man should take care of those he loves, be a gentleman to all, and always keep his word. I still open doors for women and believe in manners. Kindness and affection are reflected in courtesy and small simple acts.
Relationships are the core of my life and sustain me through hard times. Possessions have never comforted me when I was down and my checkbook has never dried my tears, but those who care about me have. I try to remember to appreciate family, friends, and the remarkable things I have been blessed with every day. My daughter especially has grown into an amazing person and makes me proud every day.
Living mindfully and in the moment is also important to me. Racing to the future or becoming lost in the past sacrifices today to things that can't be changed or things that may never happen. Living in the moment is a hackneyed phrase, but the moment you are in is the only thing you really possess.
I have a great deal of energy and stay very active. Some of the things I enjoy are cross training and a bit of CrossFit style training, cycling, cooking, creating and playing music, hunting and fishing,, water sports, and almost anything outdoors. Music in the park on a warm summer night, road trips to go anywhere you haven't seen yet, and going to a great restaurant I have never been to before are other things that make me happy. I love my two yellow labs too. They have been my best friends and my surrogate children now that the human ones are on their own.

I suppose we all look for some of the same things in a relationship, like communication that doesn't need words, the feeling that someone will always be there and always have your back, and a great lover disguised as a wonderful friend. Other things important for me are someone who likes being fit and healthy, someone who is smart, funny, successful, passionate, energetic, loyal, affectionate and capable of commitment. I hope that happens here............I hope to find the girl in my dreams
