I just moved out here to the big sprawl of the PHX metro area from California and feel like I'm having a hard time connecting with anyone, even on a friendship level. My family is insane and totally unconventional and i love them more than anything in the world. My sense of humor is on the *very* dry side. I flirt with sarcasm and wit. I'm as comfortable in climbing pants as sundresses as cycling bibs as bikinis as tight sexy jeans--and with or without makeup. I have a big heart and once you're in it I'm fiercely loyal to you. I can be very social but also painfully shy, and love going out and being outdoors but really value my quiet time at home. I love my vegetable garden, even though my tomatoes keep dying in the heat out here. I'm intelligent and independent, but other people's opinions do matter quite a lot to me. Independent also means not the jealous type, no time for drama, looking for same.
WHAT DO I DO? I'm a SCIENTIST! No really, it's the coolest job ever. I work really hard, sometimes stress out too much (backrubs?) and am busy all the time but really value lazy weekends where I get to do whatever I want, sleep in, farmers market, brunch out, hiking, happy hour, art museum. I get to travel all the time and play outside, but even so, I still spend vacations doing the same. Also, I take several long out-of-state or out-of-country work trips every year, but can often take someone with me. Which would be awesome. Because who doesn't get enough of Kyrgyzstan or Indonesia or New Guinea or Tanzania???
