I thought that I would give this internet thing another try. Summer is here and it would be nice to meet someone new who lives within a reasonable distance of Birmingham.
I have a good career, own a nice home, have a big extended family and good neighbors. Behind this quiet, conservative exterior, there is a girl with a sometimes subversive wit and a desire to escape the deadly seriousness of every day life. The corporate camouflage is a price of doing busines, but I haven't "sold my soul to the company store". If you haven't noticed already, I am way too likely to use song lyrics in conversation and have a weakness for truly lame word puns. I love to cook, try new recipes, read too many food magazines and cookbooks and am addicted to the Food Network. I like to get outside whenever I can, whether it's to run with my aging cocker spaniel or attack weeds and poison ivy with inadequately charged yard tools. I love to listen to all kinds of music. I have stopped listening to NPR lately and gone back to the CD changer. It's now T-Bone Walker, Jimmy Vaughn with some great back ups by Lou Ann Barton, Budy and Julie Miller and Gillian Welch. I love concerts, festivals, dive bars and just got back from Frenchman's Street in New Orleans. Who knew that Ukranian punk/dance music could be so fun? I love reading and need a GPS device to track all the books I have squirrelled away all over the house. I confess to reading more for entertainment than enlightenment lately. But I have read a little of about everybody and I have read more than I will ever recall.
