Date single man from California, United States. I'm from NY originally, but have been in SoCal since 2006. I always thought I'd be a city person, but have fallen hard for the California lifestyle. For the past few years I've been living in Hermosa Beach, playing a lot of volleyball and enjoying the surf and sand. I'm a huge movie junkie who came out here to work in entertainment, doing production coordinator and development work at a film/tv prodco until the writer's strike, which effectively ended my time in film. I found that working in the industry really wasnt helping my love of the end product, wasn't thrilled with the people, and after the strike I wanted something a bit more stable. Since then I've been working in finance/private equity downtown, while still exploring my passions on the side, including reading, writing, food and especially wine. Corporate life doesn't exactly suit me, too detached from nature, so I've been spending a lot of time in Santa Barbara wine country exploring and meeting with winemakers, and have set up a harvest internship for this fall. I'm also starting grad school pre-req classes at UCLA this summer for viticulture and enology (and in July moved to Westwood to be closer to class/work). Between work, class, wine trips and beach volleyball I haven't had much time to date, but would love to meet someone smart, funny and sarcastic to explore with, who appreciates experiencing fine-dining restaurants (I'm a big foodie, LA has a pretty great scene if you dig a little), trips to wine country and hikes up and down California when I need to decompress from city life. I prefer backpacking, just getting away from the modern world for a few days to head into the wildnerness. Last trip was four days in the Ventana backcountry in Big Sur, and it was fantastic. I haven't had much time to do that as I'd like, so finding someone to motivate me to hit all the great national parks and hidden spots while dropping in on vineyards would be a major plus.
