Not wanting to sound like all the other women on this site I will not go into the long "laundry" list of things I "love". I will say this, however, I want someone in my life. I know how much more complete a woman I can be if I have that special someone I can call "mine". Someone who enjoys affection as much as I do, Someone who is not afraid to show that affection and doesn't believe that you are ever too old to fall in love. Mature love is very different then the love of the teenagers, it is a love of understanding and companionship, warmth and affection and yes...intimacy.

Simple little things bring me great pleasure. Spending time together, a movie, a concert, a day in the park, a trip along the beautiful coast, or just sitting in front of the tv, simple things. I love Hawaii, particularly Maui, more than any place on the planet. I'd love to go parasailing on my next trip. I've never tried it, but it looks like fun.
Most humbling moment: While on a whale watch in Maui, a 50 foot humpback surfaced right next to the boat,,, four feet away from me. I was staring into his left eye. We held contact for a long moment and then he quietly submerged, swam under the boat and away. There was some sort of psychic connection that I can't explain.

My field is Pre-Columbian art history (Mexico, the Maya, and the Andes shortly before and after the Spanish conquest), but my own research focuses on Aztec art. I love Mexico and try to get there at least once a year. I also love and collect Mexican folk art. Here in southern California, I am drawn to the desert, a hangover from my childhood fascination with photos of western scenery, cowboys and Indians, etc.
I have two daughters, one of which lives nearby and the other, with her husband and my baby granddaughter, in another state. The owner of a spoiled Persian cat, I support animal rights as well as various environmental causes. As a liberal, I follow politics closely, usually on CNN or MSNBC, and in the paper. For entertainment I watch PBS shows and Turner Classic Movies on TV, but my guilty pleasures are Dateline, American Idol, and Project Runway. A product of the '60s, I gravitate toward bluegrass, acoustic folk music, blues, and R and;B, but I also like classical music.. My reading habits tend to focus on history books but I also enjoy mystery, spy, and true crime novels. I like to cook but also to dine out, trying out new restaurants from time to time.
