Where to start in describing myself….I think my friends would describe me as outgoing, easy-going, thoughtful, good sense of humor, trustworthy and loyal, hard working and adventurous. I am happy and content with who I am, where I have been and where I hope to go. I am fortunate to have some great life-long friends and strong family bonds, though my family is not local. I grew up in rural Connecticut and moved to CA after graduate school. I love to try new things that I have not tried before or go places I have not been….at least once anyways. I do like to plan weekend trips and vacations ahead to make sure they happen, but also am more spontaneous when with the right person. I look for balance in most things I do, weekend road trips vs local venues vs work around the house vs sports/working out. I do routinely play in a coed soccer league (taking up soccer after years of being a spectator/coach to my son’s soccer games) and jog with my dog…..and love to go Mt biking when I can….but generally don’t watch sports on TV (rather do it than watch it).
I am fortunate that I do like my job, though I see it as a means to an end, as it can afford me the ability to raise my 17-year-old son, maintain a reasonable standard of living, and pursue my love of travel and adventure (whether it be exploring international destinations, hiking in the Grand Canyon or relaxing on a tropical beach). I have been blessed to have a healthy, well-balanced and well-travelled son, who will soon be off to college/university to chart his own course in life…and perhaps start a new phase of my life. As you can possibly relate, maintaining a career and raising a son as a single parent does not leave a lot of time for maintaining your own adult relationships…though I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
