Date a soulmate from California, United States. My family history and my sense of place in the state where I grew up make up my core compass. I seek someone who is similarly anchored to something meaningful in their life--family, place, friends, pets, any anchor really. Even though I've lived in the Bay Area for over 20 years, I still have a strong connection to the Rockies where I grew up.
Growing up, I spent almost all of my time outdoors hiking, horseback riding, camping, exploring, skiing or working. Because I now work in a Silicon Valley cubicle, I try to spend my free time in the fresh air cycling, running or hiking.
Some of my proud life accomplishments include completing in an Ironman, mentoring dozens of freshmen undergrads through their first two years in university, hiking Kala Pattar, visiting the furthest town west in Tibet, building two large teams in India for my work, becoming a good friend to my grandfather.
I enjoy reading good books, collecting art, visiting museums, writing short stories and photography. A favorite way to spend an evening includes dinner at my house with good friends, wine and deep discussions or friendly debates.
I recently lived and worked in India for over half a year. It was an incredible life experience. Though I'm an extrovert who will talk with anyone, I also value quiet solitary moments.
The person I'm seeking isn't easily described because hopefully they come in a unique package that I don't yet know exists. For a baseline though, you should enjoy physical activity, natural beauty and the small things in everyday interactions. I find that I enjoy people who have the curiosity to try new things, the desire to continually learn and an open mind about the world (but a realistic approach to life). Occasional complete goofball behavior is a requirement. I maintain and appreciate in others a positive approach with a twist of humor for those inevitably challenging moments. Creativity ranks high too because a creative lens on the world makes things a lot more interesting. If you enjoy being active, are intellectually curious and slightly silly, then please introduce yourself.
