I have a great job managing the stock portfolios for my family's company which I've been doing since 19 (for my 12th birthday I received a book on investing and a guitar- my parents made sure I knew how the business world works, while also making sure I learned how to be creative).
So since I can study and manage the stock market anywhere, I moved out here from Chicago a few years ago to write screenplays, and while I love pursuing my dreams out here, I want to find someone to share those pursuits with. I believe in that corny idea that the journey is what makes life worth living, and in today's world everyone wants to be super settled down before they look for that someone- but who knows how long that might take and I'd hate to wake up one day at age 37 and single. So I find myself on this site mainly because it's not likely that someone special is found in an LA bar.
As for what I'm looking for:

Intelligence is just as attractive to me as physical beauty. I'm not saying I'd date Shrek because of a 208 IQ, but if you're insightful and witty, I'm game. There are lots of beautiful people on this planet, but what separates you from the others? That's what I'm interested in. I like dynamic personalities (but not multiple personalities). And someone that in any given week you can go out and have fun, stay in and relax to a movie, go out to see a musical or a museum, as well as watch some sports. You could say I can have a great time doing anything, so long as I'm with the right person to enjoy it.
My family is really important to me, and I'm not just listing that like most people seem to do. I come from a really great family that has made me who I am today, and I look for women who come from good families as well. It's not a requirement by any means because there are exceptions to every rule, but I find that people who come from really great families tend to pay that forward. And one day I want to have a great family that allows my children the opportunities that I've had.

People (myself included) seem so nuanced and complex describing them in words can be tough! But since you're pushing me...
I'd say what makes me "special" (I dont really like that word, but its the best I could think of.. hence my need for one of those people I talked about in the paragraph above) is my unique sense of humor, my innate sense of curiosity about the things and people around me, my compassion, unwavering loyalty, honesty and creativity. I like talking to people and listening to their stories, and usually find that the most enjoyable people to be around are those that have an open mind, those who like to laugh and who have a sense of adventure and interest in the world around them.
My ideal date? Well I'd like to say that what makes a date memorable/enjoyable has really a lot more to do with the person I'm with and not so much what you're doing or where you are....and I don't really like the idea of listing off qualities of the kind of person I'd like. I try to keep an open mind actually. Sure there are some basic qualities I could shoot off like warmth, loyalty, and compassion. But I don't think those qualities are necessarily unique to me...everyone wants someone like that. (right?) My name is Benjamin. I'm a simple down-to-earth guy who's been very blessed and fortunate for most of my life, but I also have a lot of ambition and drive to learn more and gain an understanding of the world around me. I grew up in Alabama, where I was taught to be a southern gentleman towards ladies and to be respectful towards my elders, to work hard and treat people fairly. I take my faith seriously and it's important that the one I'm interested in does as well. I desire to grow deeper in my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In fact, if you're not a Christian, you best move on... not to be too blunt, but it's the only real non-negotiable I have: While I have friends from every walk of life, I will only consider dating someone if they're a believer.
