You are in Chico as am I; that is, I work in Chico, but live about 25 minutes out of town.
I have been single for quite some time; so take note, I am a bit set in my ways, but love to meet new people, discuss new ideas, and enjoy new adventures. I just attended by 45th high school reunion and we had quite the time...we are belligerent and refuse still to accept that we no longer are teenagers, especially when we get together. We are silly and respectable simultaneously, or we think we are; of course the classmate that decided to get in the swimming pool wearing her dress (no available swimsuit) was well received and all went on chatting and thought it made perfect sense..... very practical (and no one was intoxicated!).
I purchased a single, lake kayak last year and am determined to paddle as many lakes this summer as possible. I only work 20 hrs per week so have very long weekends. It is also my substitute for going to the gym....if I could get in the groove, I do enjoy weights and treadmill; but the outdoors is so much more interesting and refereshing. And I will admit I am a bit too voluptuous in the wrong places, (that's my humor) ...just a little fluffy at the moment, but working on less fluff.
I am Native American, local Maidu tribe, and have been very active in public outreach in what I term cultural sensitivity discussions/presentations. Retired from that to refocus on personal goals...kayaking, enjoying the outdoors, research in preparation to write a book on my cultural and family heritage. Have one granddaughter - the love of my life as her grammy. My two children are in new relationships and my son will be married in November and my daughter has a new beau. Both live out of town. My passion is family get togethers, usually bbqs, to get us together as often as possible. Right now planning a camping trip in late July or August.

Meet someone special from California, United States. Friends have asked if I'd ever marry again, and I tell them, "I don't know, but I'm never going through another divorce." Given that, this whole process makes me a bit uncomfortable, but I like adventures, so that's how I'm treating this site.
Since divorcing, I've figured it's up to me to make a life I love, and if someone special comes along then it's icing on the cake. Are you up to being my icing? If you are ethical and honorable, fun, like road trips, and staying home, are comfortable with your own life, but would love to share it with someone who is curious, you might be curious about me, too. Most of my closest friends have been married for more than 30 years; two friends are divorced and really get why I don't want to go there again. I believe it takes time to really get to know someone, and I'm willing to put time into this adventure. Although I have been known to feel the need for speed, I am in no hurry to rush through learning who you are and what's important to you. If we are a good fit for each others' lives, we'll figure that out as we go. It might be one e-mail or 'phone call, it might be awhile. Sometimes it's obvious; sometimes it's a journey. If we enjoy each other, I'd like it to be for a long, long time. Wouldn't that be a kick?!
I'm not a fashion plate, or a trophy wife, but I've been told I'm not hard on the eyes, either. If looks are the most important, look elsewhere, because there's a lot more to me than someone to just turn your head. After recently moving, I made an appointment with a dermatologist. He had to check my age because he thought the paperwork was wrong. That's only because I've always believed in good skin lotions, but I liked him right away...I look 'normal' for my age, I think. I lived on the Mendocino Coast for 42 years and after retiring, I've moved to Chico to be near my daughter and her family. Grandchildren are hilarious!!
I don't do drugs, so if that's your interest, reach out to someone else; you wouldn't like me one bit. It's important to be comfortable around people and be able to trust each other, and we wouldn't match well.
I like my fellows like I like my dogs- friendly, loyal, playful, happy, not small or yappy, and not smelly. I do know that a dirty dog can clean up real well, so I know guys can, too. I like being at the beach,a river or a lake, out in the woods or stacking firewood, so I like being casual and comfortable much more than dressing up anymore, but I do like to wear silk.
I like to bake and try new recipes, and am more than willing to learn how to make things you enjoy. I like fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, and garlic over pasta, but my favorite meal is fresh crab, french bread, and champagne. You get to pick your own crab, but I'll do the dishes...
Music? Symphonies, songs that I know the words to (or at least can understand them), blues, some jazz, rock and roll, oldies, no loud screaming with my tunes, please.
