BUT: Will you really figure that out better over coffee than you would on a week long road trip doing what you love to do: ski, eat good food, drink good wine, drive a brand-new car... Ok, that last one isn't ordinarily on my top-10 list, but since I just got one, and since sometime in the next month or so I've got to visit air force bases in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Mountain Home Idaho (a couple of hours from Sun Valley), I decided to make a road trip of it and spend every other day skiing! You'll have to ask if you want to know why I have to visit air force bases, but I better confess that I'm not associated with things made to kill people; wasn't purposely trying to mislead :-) Looking for someone to join me who thinks that sounds like fun! Do you have work in the city that you love (or just love spending time in the city), but also love spending lots of time in the mountains, as part of the community, not as a tourist? Me too! I live and work in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains (East LA County), but would like to start spending a lot of my time in Mammoth Lakes--I can do a lot of my work remotely, and I've got to get my money's worth on that season's pass!! Sound appealing?
I do love physical activity, especially skiing and cycling, but I also enjoy city things: dining out, theater, movies… I also love cooking and dining in. I enjoy visiting new places but I much prefer to do so in the company of “locals” when I can, so feel lucky to have a list of friends around the country and around the world I’m looking to forward to visiting (or visiting again). I discovered bicycle touring a few years ago, and found it to be another great way to visit new places. The pace is perfect (you miss a lot at freeway speeds, but walking is a bit too slow), and no need to visit the gym at the hotel you stay at: you’ve gotten a great workout getting there. Looking for someone special to share these things with: someone who is into living life enthusiastically: physically, intellectually and emotionally. I’m very open-minded to different points of view, as long as those views are supported by reasoned thinking: I’m afraid I don’t do so well with dogma.
I love the concept of knowing in advance that our interests and dreams are similar, but I’m afraid that the downside to this brave new world of internet matching is that it can make first contact feel a little scary, and it shouldn't be!
