But here goes...I'm a documentary filmmaker, spent much of my life in NY City (where I was born), high school in England, college in New England, and now living happily at the beach. I'm passionate about what I do, and it is deeply intertwined with the rest of my life. I have wonderful friends who are as important to me as family...AND I have a wonderful family who adore each other (parents who've been in love for over 60 years, a delicious niece and nephew, a great brother and sister in law...) and I adore them...I am damn lucky! I go to NY pretty often to see all of them (and to Paris to see my cousins too!). But I love coming home to LA.
I'm a rabid democrat, pop-culture junkie, sometime musician, addicted to conversation, very politically aware, very easy going, happy almost all the time -- laughter is like air to me -- happier for sure when I'm sharing this wonderful life with someone wonderful. Love a good meal out (and a good red) with friends but also a salad, pizza and a movie at home. Definitely NOT as comfortable in a suit as in jeans.
I read the New Yorker, but I love Two and a Half Men. Have Philip Roth, Malcolm Gladwell, Sue Grafton, Russell Brand and Stieg Laarson on my Kindle. Saw Chris Cornell, Elvis Costello, Goo Goo Dolls, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs recently, and also Yo-yo Ma and Keith Jarrett (unfortunately not together...can you imagine?!).
I can be a little workaholic, but also have a healthy capacity for laziness (ok, I don't know how healthy it is :). I'm very affectionate with my friends, my family, every one I love...and especially with the one I love. I love animals (definitely a dog person), I think the people in my life would describe me as kind, generous of heart and spirit, smarter than the average bear, and...well, god only knows what else they would say...I guess you'll have to ask them! All that said, I'm probably more complicated than I think, but you'll have to be the judge of that. More later if you're interested.
As for what I'm looking for...basically, somebody who is comfortable in her own skin, someone happy (unless there's a compelling reason not to be) who likes who she is, and who likes me as much as I like her. Kindness, compassion, curiosity, passion, we make each other melt, we trust, we rely, you get the idea.
Other than that, we'll just have to play it by ear. I think we'll both know it if it's right.
