Date single man from Woodacre, United States. I would say my best attribute is my heart, with an irreverent sense of humor second. I have a sharp mind, but that's not always brought me happiness. I am a videographer, amateur musician, lover of travel and I think I'm a nice guy (though I don't always finish last). I love being involved in service to others. Totally selfish, I suppose. It makes me feel good.
I'm 5'10", 180 lbs, and I'm generally healthy, but not particularly athletic. I am living in a healthier way than I did earlier in my life (better diet, less indulgences), and I live as consciously as I can (whatever that means). I love to be in nature, and I spend time hiking and biking in this Paradise called the Bay Area. I love music, especially improvisational rock and blues (I was into the Grateful Dead back in the 70's and 80's). I go to see live music whenever great musicians are performing locally. I love my 14 year old cockapoo, and feel a connection to most animals.
Mystical experiences I had in my youth changed the trajectory of my life (for the better). Along with having done several Buddhist meditation retreats and studying Eastern wisdom traditions, I still enjoy the sensual pleasures - great food, wine, visual beauty and physical affection. When things get really bad, I've been known to meditate. I have a ponytail. I'm very good at foot rubs and massage. Some wise words I live by: "If you don't have a sense of humor, it just isn't funny" - Wavy Gravy.
Having deep connections to people, and making contact with the being behind the roles we play motivates me. I think relationship is the deepest and most challenging yoga we can engage in. I haven't gotten rid of all my old baggage, but I trust my heart to guide me when I'm lost, and I'm still inching my way forward. Ultimately, I'd like to find a permanent partner, but I'm not in a rush. I was a classic "Puer Aeternus" (Peter Pan) before my 10-year marriage (which ended in 2006), and while it will take quite the right partner to coax me into commitment, I am certainly open to it.
5 years ago I would have said I was a bit of a dreamer, not achievement-oriented, but now I feel more awake, and have started to take action to realize some of those dreams. As a filmmaker, I used to mostly shoot and edit other people's work. Now I'm doing more of my own stuff as well . Most of my projects are for non-profits, documentaries, spiritual organizations, etc., though I do some corporate work to enhance my income (but I'm picky about who I work for). Lately I've spent a lot of time traveling, shooting a documentary about poverty, and I've learned to be very grateful for what I have, and am inspired to help others less fortunate (at least economically). I am working on a new project that will take me overseas, working to illuminate the plight of those with very little, and create a way for those of us with "more than enough" to share what we have. If you're reading this, you definitely have "more than enough".
I'm looking for someone with a curiosity about what this life is all about. Someone with a non-traditional perspective. Maybe someone who shares my counter-culture background (or not). Most importantly, someone who knows that joy comes from making others happy, and that things are not always what they seem. Looking for heartfelt adventure?
