Meet a man from California, United States. I'm pretty laid back. I enjoy visiting new places, trying new things, and meeting different people. Some of the places I've been include most of the U.S. (including living in Omaha for 8 yrs) & Europe, India, Nepal, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Jamaica, a lot of Central and South America (some of my favorite people and countries), DR, and the Philadelphia airport (not so fun).
I like trying things out in life so I've done stuff like paragliding, occasional dives, but I also like the day to day stuff like watching movies and hanging out with friends. Recently I've started running, which got addicting to the point where I ran the L.A. marathon (don't ask me my time, all I can say is that I finished).
My sense of humor is on the sarcastic side, but I do my best to keep life in perspective and keep things light-hearted.

I’ve traveled extensively outside the United States and have really enjoyed immersing myself in other cultures. I'd love to travel the world with someone, or spend time in the US seeing the multitude of places that I've overlooked for years. I have never been to the Grand Canyon! My most recent adventure was climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and relaxing on the beach in Zanzibar. My best travel stories have to be misadventures in eating. One would think that the human survival instinct would add a layer of conservatism to my travel eating regimen, but I seem to learn my hilarious,painful lesson over and over.

I moved to San Francisco in September 2011. I grew up in Colorado and most recently lived in Chicago, where I was an MBA student. I’ve also lived in Seattle, Denver, Chicago (twice) and a crummy city on the East Coast that will remain nameless to protect the guilty (hint: the HBO series The Wire takes place there). I’m thrilled to be in the Bay Area and have dived into all the outdoor activity (mountain biking, Tahoe skiing, hiking, etc.).
I work at an investment bank in Palo Alto doing software M&A and live in SoMa, which makes the commute easier.
I’m pretty straight forward and uncomplicated. I’m professionally driven and work hard, but I do have free time. I’m not that serious and think a sense of humor and enjoyment in life are important. In no particular order, my favorite things are cycling, wine, trying new restaurants, watching intelligent movies, photography and traveling to interesting and sometimes challenging places. Over the past few years, I’ve been to Colombia, Thailand, Iceland and Barbados. While in college, I spent some time in India, Vietnam and Morocco and a few other interesting places. I can be a bit of a nerd. I studied molecular biology in college and read The Economist nearly every week, but Friday / Saturday nights, I am generally cutting loose and going out.

I’m relationship oriented and would appreciate the same. San Francisco can be an "interesting" city from a social and dating perspective, so I think it's important to be up front about goals; it can save everyone a lot of time. I've had meaningful relationships lasting over a year from Match and I also know it takes a lot of work/time/dating to get there. Basically, I'm saying I'm past the just-trying-it phase and would appreciate a somewhat similar mindset or at least openness to the idea of something other than random craziness coming from Match!

Within the last year, I moved to SF from Chicago where I lived for just a couple of years, but I was born and raised in Massachusetts and spent the majority of my life in New England. So far the city is amazing though and it was a great choice. There's so much to do. For now I've been playing a lot of sports. I play soccer and ice hockey once a week. I don't normally add "ice" to that but learned i have to out here. :) I've played both since I was a very little kid. Here are some ramblings in no particular order.
I love listening to new and old music because all new music came from the old and I think it's important to know that. I think old soul music is better than new soul music because it just is. I like to read a lot of non-fiction about places that I'm not from so I can learn about people that aren't me. I love to make people laugh and smile because I think life is more fun when you're laughing through it. It's important to be successful at my job but also successful in life because that's what really matters. I really enjoy a proper pint, especially one with the first name of Guinness, but I am also partial to Italian reds. I love an amazing coffee, and want to do a coffee house crawl across the city - even if I won't be able to sleep for 3 days after. Both are made better by great conversation. I love sports because of the action and competitiveness. The last album I've listened to multiple times lately is the newest album by the Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside. It's fantastic and gets back to real music and creativity. I recently learned how to make pasta sauce from scratch. I have a trick or two up my sleeve when it comes to cooking. I will never like the Yankees, but it's prob OK if you do. Maybe. In the next year I plan on being scuba certified. I prefer a bar where I can laugh, talk, and goof around with my friends over a club. A smaller dive bar with a fantastic jukebox sucks me in every time. Small music venues are better than arenas. I've done some traveling but not nearly as much as I want - there is just so much to see out there. Hearing other's travel stories is a great way to pass the time and connect. Amazing food is, well, amazing. I can't get enough of trying new food. I love west coast seafood, but am still partial to a properly made lobstah roll from back home.
