Date men and women from Palo Alto, United States. Bonus points if you know where my headline comes from.
Some things about me:
* I'm an almost-native Californian (born in Princeton, NJ), and I love living in the Bay Area. With the weather, the scenery, the food, the culture, and the infrequent ground vibrations, what's not to love? Seriously, flat ground that doesn't ever move is so overrated...
* I'm good-natured and easy-going, and I don't take myself too seriously.
* I'm a huge baseball fan. (Go Giants!)
* I've never used the phrase "Lean Six Sigma" in a conversation, and I have no plans to change that.
* In my free time I design unconventional educational products for math and computer-science students. One of my main interests is finding ways to teach math and computer science to people who don't think of themselves as "math people," and to people who are downright scared of math. (Now that I think about it, at least half of my friends are teachers.)
* Contrary to what it looks like in my photo, I don't spend my whole life sitting on benches and looking at the sky. And not all of my polo shirts are green. I love taking pictures of other people, but I shy away from appearing in photos myself. Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster have been photographed more often than I have...
* My username roma_tomato is a reference to the main ingredient in my tomato sauce.
* I studied an unusual combination of subjects in college: math, computer science, education, art, film studies... interestingly enough, I use all of them right now.
* I play the electric bass (badly).
* I have a t-shirt that reads, "There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't." (If you don't get it, feel free to ask me; it's a good ice-breaker.)
* I have very eclectic taste in music - classic rock, prog rock, glam, 70's punk, 80's new wave, ska, reggae, "some" classical. Many of the groups that I listen to would have hated other groups that I listen to (especially the progs and the punks). Can't musicians just get along?
* I chose "non-conformist" for my political views even though it sounds like I wear socks that don't match. I think that most important issues are too complicated to be decided according to a set of simplistic, inflexible rules.
* I'm an amateur photographer. I miss the darkroom (sort of...) since switching to digital, but the environment is better off now without photo chemicals.
* Aside from the USA, my favorite country in the world is Israel. I lived in Jerusalem for three months when I was ten.
* Here are some of my contradictions:
- I'm both "outdoorsy" and "indoorsy" at the same time.
- Although I'm a committed Californian, I still know that New York has the best pizza.
- I use professional 3D-animation software that takes years to master, but I can barely use PowerPoint.
- I was born in New Jersey, but I don't wear tacky jewelery or have an orange fake tan.
Meet a soulmate from Palo Alto, United States. I am loyal, competitive, sympathetic, and playful. I am rooted but far from home. I cope with absurdity via quick humor. I’m detail-oriented and literal-minded. Once I establish a friendship, I care deeply about its condition.
I stand for accuracy and truth-telling even (especially?) when the truth is difficult, for laughter driven by wordplay and the strangeness of life, for consistency and generosity, for keeping promises, for seriousness or craziness, depending on the context.
I desire to give and receive respect and love, to learn reciprocally in relationships, to be a responsible steward of body, mind, money, and environment, to be always reliable and occasionally delightful, punctuating my most treasured friendships with a creative flourish as a signal of my gratitude and a means of encouragement.
My ideal match will appreciate my values and affirm my (sometimes esoteric) work as having inherent worth, although her own work focus may be very different. She will probably be more extraverted than I am, and will be able to gain energy from the process of encouraging me to pace myself in a healthy way. She’ll have a genuine enthusiasm for what’s familiar and a willingness to explore what’s new. I look forward to being surprised by her thoughtfulness, ready smile, and warmth.

Meet single man from Palo Alto, United States. Smart and career focused southern gentleman on the rebound seeking companionship. Not sure what the future holds, newly separated after long term relationship. Fun loving and down to earth seeking the same
Date people from Palo Alto, United States. Thanks for visiting my profile. I am exploring this site.
I am shy at first when I meet someone new. I like swimming, sailing, reading, cooking, gardening and music. I hope to meet someone strong who respects my values and who I can connect with.
Meet a soulmate from California, United States. I'd rather be meeting you on a biking trail, an international airport or even at Whole Foods but instead I'm resorting to match.com. I figure it's better than reality T.V.
I'm originally an eastcoaster and have lived in a number of fun and interesting places (both domestically and internationally).
I enjoy outdoor sports, travel, cultural events and hanging out with good friends and family.
I've always been an outgoing type who stays physically active and meets people easily yet I haven't met that special someone to settle down with. I'm at a point in my life and career where I'd be ready for a deeper relationship if the right person came along yet I refuse to settle because of a biological clock or financial security. I'm looking for a best friend.
I prefer not to have a clone but someone who can complement me and expose me to new ideas and interests. I am an independent woman but value trust, companionship and open communication. That physical spark is important for a lasting connection but I'd also be open to just meeting some fun interesting new people who would enjoy experiencing the Bay Area together.
Finally, I must admit my actual age is 41 yrs old although I look about 30 years old in person. Unfortunately I've discovered on these dating sights most men are looking for women much younger than themselves and I'm grown tired of the out of shape over 50 year old men contacting me. I'd prefer to have someone who is young at heart, active (both physically and mentally) and who enjoys exploring and trying new things. I've learned that age is just a number and that I'd prefer to meet someone who I connect with on all levels.
Date a woman from California, United States. I have to describe myself in this tiny box? I'm a California native who just relocated back to Palo Alto. I'm a fun, pretty goofy girl. I love trail running but due to a recent injury, I'm sticking to non-impact sports these days. I enjoy swimming with the masters team, as well as biking around the Portola Valley Loop, and hiking at Rancho San Antonio. Hope to do some more rock climbing soon.
I'm fun, adventurous, and loving life. I love traveling to places like London, Paris, Rome, Australia and OZ. I'm so lucky to have a lot of international friends and have gotten to see where the locals hangout. I love experiencing new places. Like swimming with the endangered Hector dolphins in Oz. Trail running in Australia. Harvesting grapes in the South of France. When friends visit, I like to roll the red carpet out for them too. Like grabbing a drink at the Top of the Mark. Seeing the Hells of Gate at the Rodin Sculpture Garden at night. Relaxing on the patio at the Moss Beach Distillery after a day of checking out the tide pools.
I recently finshed my PhD (in Organizational Psychology) and I'm enjoying getting the rest of my life back. I love school and can't believe it's finally done. I am now an adjunct professor who mentors grad students to help them along their journey. Ok, so I'm a bit of a geek, but hey, geeks are hot, right? ha ha
I'm really good at living each day to the fullest and having fun! Life is an adventure and I am enjoying the journey. It's not so much about rushing to a destination or finish line. I have had dear friends who passed away from cancer. So, I have been really humbled, and try not to take anything for granted. That, and grad school made me realize the more you study, the less you really know.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here is that I was born with a slight disability and told I'd never run. Thirty years later I've run 6 marathons and even did an Ironman! Never say never! Ok, so what else? Hmmm. Well I was once in a relationship for 10 years. We are still good friends. I confess I'm a hopeless romantic. As William Shakespeare once said, Love all. Trust a few. Do wrong to none." Well, I'm working on it ;)
As for what I'm looking for? Just moved back to Palo Alto and I'd love to meet new friends. The town has changed so much. Would love to grab dinner, have coffee, some wine, and/or perhaps a crazy game of scrabble. Oh the madness! Just a warning, I will kick your butt! Are you game? ha ha. But seriously, would love some great conversation, laughter, and friendship.
Cheers :)
Meet someone special from California, United States. You're looking for the trifecta - sweet, sexy, smart - and you haven't been able to find it until now. I'm looking for a tall and confident manly man who adores me when I'm cute and admires me when I'm strong. You want to take care of me even though you can tell that I don't need it.
You agree that intimacy and a healthy sex life are essential to a great relationship, and you are dedicated and resourceful in ensuring this aspect. Bonus points if you've read the Five Love Languages, and you think that your love languages include Physical Touch, Quality Time, or both.
Ideally, you are at least as smart, well-educated, and successful in your career as I am. You recognize that emotional intelligence is often more important than raw intelligence, both at home and at work.
Just as you look for certain physical traits in a woman, so do I in men - please be at least six feet tall (the taller the better), so that I can smile up at you, even when wearing four-inch heels. :-)
