Date single man from California, United States. It's getting close to moving time. Thinking if romance has really become important, the 1st step is to head somewhere more balanced than Silicon Valley. The job market is also giving signs.
Should have seen it coming, but the moment a man needs love in the Silicon Valley area, his time here is done. It was something I agreed to 10 years ago & now it sure looks like the gift of forsaking love has run out.
With 80% men, all heroines in this area really do get hooked up within a year of any focused search. All my favorites were taken in 1 year.
Really need to nail down the relocation decision. My mind keeps going back to a group of guys called The Magnificent Five.
A really insane love life did come to 5 men here known as The Magnificent Five. It may have taken a lot of money & many many years in bars for them to get good enough to get picked over all the other men in the valley, but they DID overcome the rest & they DID have the time of their lives not in Denver but in MAN JOSE.
Finished a very difficult 1 year romance campaign in 2010 just to get a taste of it but not to stay in it. It's a bad idea for men to become interested in romance in this area. The goal was to get back to 2006, being happy just focusing on machines, but it looks unlikely.
It started in July 2009 by accident. Just saw a web page about electroluminescent wire & it led to some advertisements showing heroines in strong roles. Decided to go on at least 1 casual date in the next year. Got exactly 1 date in that year, but other than that 1 heroine, got a pretty serious taste of the truth with another. The advertisement wasn't real. That was a career limiting experience.
Noticed heroines in 2010 were a lot different than college. Think they're a lot less tolerant of mistakes because they've had many more years of experience with men, they've learned the warning signs well, there are just a lot more men here to choose from, & because free time is a lot more scarce.
Also noticed the men at this age look just damn valuable compared to college students. Don't think such an unforgiving environment is very fun.
A focused campaign to find romance is going to reveal truths about yourself you never knew, truths you aren't ready for & truths you can't accept. Unfortunately the price of knowing what you truly want is to know you will never have what you truly want.
Moving may not accomplish anything because the ideal heroine warrior who gets nearly a perfect score on Air Force fitness tests, is your age, & has zillions of connections to your past is simply as unrealistic as humanly possible. A more even gender ratio may not accomplish anything if you can't accept a normal heroine in a normal heroine job.
Until 2009, never knew what the perfect heroine really was. She went from a movie character to an engineer to a long dead Amazon who lived 2000 years ago to a heroine in another galaxy, or a housewife who just put up with being called a heroine & a warrior. Think in 2009 the perfect heroine became pretty clear even if She was an illusion or an idealization of what was really there.
Maybe a career in teaching or child care would have produced romance, but it still seems the perfect heroine would never be found there, only in a place with 5 men per heroine. Romance with any less would not have been worth it.
In 2005, took a version of the Myers Briggs test modified for career type & I came up as a military commander. The signs were there but I just didn't see it coming.
It may be enjoying solitude isn't possible after a certain age & number of memories have built up. Enough memories build up that you always see yourself in some heroine & want to unite with yourself. Could have hit critical mass at age 30-31.

I'm a New Yorker, born and raised (no, I don't have an accent; yes, I'm a bit of a smart aleck), but I've lived out here for the better part of the last 20 years. Of course, there's also a time for lazy weekends of watching movies, doing crosswords, reading, going to the gym, and walking the dog. Sometimes ya just gotta unwind, ya know?

What it really seems to be turning into is a time leech though.

This also means I'm drawn into other cultures and philosophies. Seeing the world through American eyes is not always the most truthful. I'm not the sit-in-church kind of guy but I've been raised with good morals and values, yes and even attended church as a kid. I don't think it's required to be a good person. Overly pushy religious people scare me. Someone with a good balance is just fine. I come from a big family so it's never boring. With the stockpile of nieces and nephews ever-growing, it probably won't slow down anytime soon. I guess they're ok for a family but I don't need to be around them 24/7. Once a week dropping laundry off for mom to do is enough. I kid, I kid. Being responsible and independent is something slinging papers and buzzin' grass at a young age helped me learn. Oh come on it was the suburbs and Vanilla Ice not East LA. I like to cook, I like to eat. It's usually something healthy on my plate but give me sugary goodness and that'll be my downfall. Good thing I have an energetic pup to drag around on hikes.
