Date a soulmate from Oak Park, United States. I am goofy, witty, and compassionate. Originally from San Diego, spent a few years in Washington DC, and now back on the Left Coast. Very close with my family - we are small, but tight-knit. My faith is the lens through which I understand the world. For me it is a foundation, a constant, an inseparable part of who I am.
There are usually any number of books littered around my house in various states of completion. I'd say I'm low maintenance, but would hate to be one of those girls who says she is but really isn't, so I'll go with average maintenance. I'd probably wear my favorite holey jeans and college sweatshirt every single day if it were socially acceptable. Part of me wishes I were British, but for now I'll have to settle for watching BBC America and busting out an accent when the mood strikes. I cry at the Olympics. I am both quiet and boisterous, shy and outgoing. I am patient and gracious, but definitely have a streak of Scots-Irish stubbornness. After years of watching Hollywood rom-coms and Jane Austen impossible love stories I am absolutely a romantic, but in the real world perhaps 'cautiously optimistic' is a better assessment.
I teach high school history and I adore that I get paid to combine various parts of my personality - share my passion for history and the past, get to know quirky crazy teenagers, and do it all with a little flair of theater to keep them awake. One of the best perks of teaching is summers off, which provides time for travel. The chance to be somewhere new, to learn about a different way of life, to see where history happened... I love it.
Who I'm looking for: Kind, intelligent, funny, down to earth, someone who challenges me with their intellect, humor, drive. Values family and faith. Likes sports, doesn't abhor art-y stuff. Someone who appreciates a balance of energy/activity and calm. Well-informed about the world, current events. Willing to be ridiculous when the occasion calls for it, serious when it matters.
