In my leisure time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading (I can get lost in a good book for hours!. I am currently reading "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest by Stieg Larsson) ,writing, going to the movie theater, and listening to music [it tends to calm me :-] especially some good Neo-Soul, RB, and Classic Oldies! But I am a lover of all music from Jazz to Rock!
My friends would probably describe me as fun, sassy, loving and a firecracker lol. You will definitely know when I have entered the room!

So most people get around this marvelous world with their legs.. One step at a time but me... Well of course I had to do things a bit different! I get around with my trusty wheels! Not car.. No my wheels i.e my wheelchair. Yep. I'm cruising around L.A (and beyond) in my wheelchair.
I have been racing these streets since I was 12 years old. However despite obstacles I have faced I have never let my disability get in the way of achieving what I want in life, which shows in my academic, career, and social life. As a high school teacher, I teach my students to have high expectations for themselves. In order to follow my own advice, I have high expectations for myself. I fully believe in the importance of being a life long learner and strive to always educate myself before making judgement calls. I try to stay active whether its running along the beach in Santa Monica, playing volleyball, exercising at home, or taking hikes with friends. I have a great circle of family and friends who inspire and support each other regularly. Now that summer has started, I have more time to relax, rejuvenate and have fun before the next school year starts! I like to travel.. a lot. I keep myself busy with extended weekend trips as often as I can. Ideally, my future partner and I will take lots of weekend trips to see new sights and try new tastes, together.
I've realized that casual dating is not something I am interested in. I am always amazed when people can date multiple people at the same time? I'm looking to build a friendship that will eventually turn into something more. In addition to being responsible both personally and financially, I'm looking for someone who is educated, and looks out for everyone else as much as I do. Its important that this person be open to trying new things, keep me on my toes, and teach me things I don't know. It would be nice if this someone enjoyed playing sports more than watching them.
