. I am looking for a pared down materialistic life style. I want to be able to pick up and travel, i am learning to ride a scooter. My friends have been so supportive and i am a loyal friend. You also get me as i am or not at all. I am greatful for my friends, my son and grandchildren and my job, it has gotten me through the 2 toughest years of my life.
My social life is in the process, being without a partner is different. I sometimes have an offball since of humor, but my friends find that okay. i have been told i have been an inspiration to people i know and it is so profound, because i dont think of my self as some one to look up to and i fill very humble about that.
. I am a divorced woman who has spent the last 26 years being a single mom to my only son who is now engaged to be marrried so my parenting is "done" . It is time to spread my wings a bit and find someone to do that with. I am quite laid-back although can become passionate about things/people important to me. Family and work are both very important. I have worked all of my adult-life as a social worker, for many years in the non-profit world, but most recently as a psychiatric social worker in a large for-profit practice. I do out-patient therapy with a wide range of people and enjoy it immensely. It is still gratifying to feel I may be making a positive difference in the lives of others. I grew up in Ft Lauderdale, spent 12 years in Boston and moved to Alabama in 1976 and have been here ever since. I have lots of female friends but would really enjoy some male companionship with the right person. My interests are varied but I have taken up golf in the past few years and play regularly. I would say it is my primary past time at this point. I am a "bleeding heart" liberal and will always root for the underdog. I pride myself on being honest, open, financially and emotionally stable, compassionate and fun-loving. Shared laughter is a beautiful thing.
It is hard to describe what I'm looking for. Everything that comes to mind seems so obvious - I guess I look for the same qualities that I value in myself, although I am very open to different perspectives and am drawn to those who allow for individual differences and are non-judgmental. Since I like to laugh, a good sense of humor is always a big plus.
