I live on the westside of Los Angeles and work at a university. I feel very fortunate since I love what I do and manage a great team. The short version of what I do: I teach teachers how to use technology to promote learning. Of course, with work and life it's not as easy to meet people, so I am trying online dating. I'm dating to find a girlfriend but ultimately I'm looking for that special woman to journey with the rest of our lives.
This summer, I vacationed in Vancouver, Canada -- and I loved it. In November, I went to Florida and overdosed on theme parks. And over Christmas, I visited the central coast of California and saw Hearst Castle, the elephant seals at San Simeon, and explored the Morro Bay area. So, travel is very important to me; I take at least one major trip a year and often a few small ones, too. Why? To explore the outdoors and the arts, and to learn more about other areas and cultures... and just to have fun.
I have many other passions and interests, and I look forward to learning about you, discovering if we click, and exploring all the fun things we share in common (or new things we can learn and experience from each other). Meet someone special from West Los Angeles, United States. I’ve been known to cause a kerfuffle with my sense of humor; it’s gotten me in trouble it’s gotten me out of trouble. What can I say, I love to laugh. I’ll take a stupid comedy over a drama any day. Even though I start off talking about my sense of humor, there is a lot more to me. Amongst my friends and family, I’m the official airport pickup / drop off person. One holiday weekend I was at LAX three separate times in one day. Not only do I know my way to the airport, without GPS, but I know my way around a kitchen as well; I can make a chocolate mousse cheesecake that will knock your socks off. Fortunately I don’t often make that cheesecake otherwise I would have to spend much more time at the gym, I enjoy going to the gym but I don’t live there.
Adventure seems to find me whenever I travel, such as the time I found myself on an impromptu tour of Hanoi on the back of a motor bike, or the neighborhoods I discovered while getting lost driving in Israel. Locally I don’t really get lost, thanks to GPS, but sometimes it’s fun to shut off the GPS and throw caution to the wind. All that being said, I really am a practical person with bursts of spontaneity and a zest for surprises.

The type of person I would like to date, is very confident. If you can't laugh at yourself how can we have fun? Life is to be enjoyed, not stressed over. Dates should be fun, it's the only way I know how. Whether it's at a nice restaurant or on an afternoon bike ride, take advantage of the moment. There is not one specific "type" of person I am looking for. Sometimes it's there in the beginning, sometimes it develops over time. If I was describing my perfect match, it would begin with a physical attraction; some type of spark that makes my stomach jump for a split second. Then there would have to be some good conversation. Can this person think for herself? My match would have to be someone with similar interests. She likes sports and doing athletic things. She would be spontaneous to go to a concert or comedy show if tickets appeared Friday afternoon, but would also look forward to a Saturday night out all dressed up. I've been told that I'm smart, funny, outgoing and a great catch, among other things, but not sure how objective that is, so maybe take that with a grain (or rock) of salt. I'd say a more accurate self-description is that I enjoy being active, adventurous and outdoors, exploring a farmers market or hiking on the trails in the hills around LA or doing anything else outdoors after being in an office for work all week. Being an LA native who's lived here my whole life, I'm pretty content with all that the SoCal lifestyle and weather affords. While I couldn't imagine living anywhere else (although open to the possibilities), traveling with a passport in hand (and planning such a trip) is probably my favorite passion. I could go on and on about myself, but if my pictures are worth thousands of words--for better or worse--enough said. A few people seem to have problems with the pictures I posted. If you are one of those women who expect muscle photos, car or truck photos, or shooting range photos, etc., then sorry, you are looking at the wrong profile - you want someone who lifts weights, drives a truck, and likes his guns. Not me. I swim (a lot), drive a car or occasionally a motorcycle that has the sole purpose of getting me from point A to point B, and I don't waste my time at shooting ranges pretending to be a tough guy.
I'm just looking for a real relationship - its something that has been missing from my life for quite awhile now. That is not a good thing and I am finding it a difficult problem to solve.
A long term relationship (maybe even marriage) would be ideal, but it seems a lot to hope for. I believe in being optimistic but also realistically optimistic. I'll settle for someone who loves me and whom I love.
My professional life is very gratifying and really satisfies my personal artistic needs (yes, it is an art form). My goal is to continually become better at what I do and to learn something new about my profession every day. I read a lot and if i didn't have a Kindle would probably qualify as a hoarder of books.

I am a kind and trusting person and that has not always served me well. Having said that, I still have no intention of changing. I've read too many profiles on here that are angry rants about what the person does not want, and all of their demands and expectations. I feel badly that they have had such miserable experiences. Mine, at least on here, have been far less than positive, but I try to stay hopeful nonetheless.
I'm 5'11, 170 dress casually, and truly enjoy people in general. I work odd hours but I can also be available at convenient times. I'm pretty much a night owl really. I have a weird and stressful but fulfilling job.

Please don't misinterpret that last statement. While I need to be physically attracted to a person, if I'm not attracted to their personality, the looks don't matter. Intelligence is the most attractive trait a person can have, at least for me.
