Originally from Hawaii, to California via Kansas and Minnesota. Moving around a lot has been good for me and taught me a lot about survival and independence but it's left me feeling like a fish out of water - yearning for a place to call home. Meet people from California, United States. I just moved from Santa Monica to SF for work and, 3 weeks in, I'm loving it. It's definitely an adjustment. The weather being the biggest hurdle to overcome. I love the sunshine and beaches of Santa Monica/Venice/Malibu, but I know San Francisco will exceed my expectations. I moved to California from New York and before that DC and have to say that I don't think I'll be moving back to the East Coast anytime soon. I'm in love with California!
My work days are long and hard - I'm a Buyer at Pottery Barn - but I remain focused on maintaining a healthy work/life balance. When I'm not in the office, I love spending time with family and friends eating great food and drinking great California wine. On the weekends, I love spending time outdoors running, hiking or biking and am a huge fan of Bikram Yoga. I'm an insanely positive person and my days wouldn't be complete without a great laugh. I'm also a huge sports fan. Staying in or going to meet friends to watch football is how I spend most Sundays in the fall. I must warn you though, I'm from Philadelphia so I'm always betting on the Eagles, Phillies or Sixers. :)
I love to travel both domestically and internationally. My first great trip was to Israel in 1997 and I haven't stopped exploring the world since. I went to a small, private school in Pennsylvania and spent a semester abroad in Australia. I met life long friends and traveled all over Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. I've done some European travel, but it continues to be on the top of my list of places to go. I would love to find someone to leave SF with me for a long weekend jaunt. I love wine tasting in Napa, beaches in LA and I haven't been to Tahoe yet (I know, it's tragic to admit that in this city, but I'm athletic so don't let it be a deal breaker) :) so I'd be up for anything. I would love to meet someone who has the same outlook on life as I and who is willing to challenge themselves (and me) mentally and physically.
My ideal guy is educated and smart, yet doesn't take himself too seriously. He's kind and thoughtful. He's outgoing and full of life. He makes me laugh and relates to my same interests (above is just a preview), yet has his own hobbies and interests to share with me. I'm typically willing to try anything at least once. I jumped out of a plane in New Zealand (can't say that I would do that again...I was 20 years old and invincible), dove the Great Barrier Reef and climbed an ice glacier. I recently finished getting my MBA while working full time, so I didn't have too much time for socializing. I was born and raised in Germany and moved to the US in 2006 to join the United States Coast Guard. I'm half Puerto Rican, so technically I'm a Germarican.
I'm stationed in lovely Traverse City Michigan as an Aviation Maintenance Technician (Helicopter mechanic) and I truly love my job and the people I work with. This job is very rewarding and also so much fun. I'm moving to San Francisco for my new duty assignment in the beginning of July and am excited to explore new sites and to meet new people.
In my free time I love to mountainbike, snowboard, go camping etc. I love the outdoors and also love trying out new things.

I'm a doglover but due to my workschedule it would be irresponsible to get one, so I have 2 cats that most of the time think they are dogs. Buster is from the shelter and is what I think partially bob cat and wilbur is a a little gray shy strey cat that i got from an older woman who couldn't handle him anymore. If I don't climb trees to get them down, I spend my time mountain biking, snowboarding, camping and almost everything that has to do with the outdoors. I like to try out new things, even though I think I'll never try out hunting (don't have the stomach for that). I love reading and wish I could combine that sometimes with biking, but that would result in bad injuries. I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. For the guys at work I'm pretty much the Airmom, I sow there uniform and help them out with advice or just a nice word.
I still have a bit of an funky accent because German is my first language, but I'm working on it. I am working on a degree because I would like to go to Officer Candidate school to become a pilot, but also to have an american education as well. It's very interesting how different the US schoolsystem is. This is my second carreer, back home I was a planner in the Projectmanagement for the 4th largest printing press manufacturer of the world. It was fun but very draining. Now I have a job I like, and you can only be really good in a job that you like.
