I'm a mom to two ridiculously awesome kids (son is 7 and daughter is 6) whom I have 50% of the time. I'm not looking for a father for my kids or someone to pay my bills. Rather, just looking for someone to enjoy life with. I'm content being single but I do think everything is just a little sweeter when you can share it with someone else. I am career-minded but also love to stay active in my evenings and weekends. I love to eat, I love being surrounded by good people, and I love friendly competition - board games, sports, cards, you name it! I am independent. I take nothing too seriously and laugh often; I have to for my sanity. I have an ironic sense of humor and like to joke with my kids (which has come back to bite me), and I'm loyal and loving. I have faults too, I steal my kids' Halloween candy when they sleep (shhh!) and freak out if they track in dirt after I've swept. But other than that, I'm pretty normal.

On a side note, I'm noticing that a lot of men are lying about their ages! My take on that is- if you're lying about your age, what else are you lying about?? I would never continue to date a man that was lying in the first place.
Another side note... I'm laughing at profiles on match; guys that are mid-40's but are looking for women from 25-30. Really? Or, just read a profile where a guy has kids but wants to be with a woman who doesn't. ? Oh, and my favorite is someone in their mid 40's who wants kids "someday". WTF. Someday has come and gone!!

I have made great strides....climbed the hills of Wales, soaked in the beauty of Kyoto when the cherry blossoms are blooming, bargained with the vendors at Dilli Haat, prayed at the temples in Ho Chi Minh City, eaten with the geckos in Pohnpei, lounged and roamed Honolulu, immersed in the history of Washington DC, partied with the natives in Guam, glided through the forest in Belize, and meandered through the streets of Kowloon...but I still have thousands of miles before I can reach my goal. My life is pretty busy, with full time work and being a single mom( with pretty much full time custody), my hope is through internet dating that chance meeting can happen where it might not in my day to day life.
The things that are most important to me in my life are my children and my extended family. At this point in my life I am clear about what I want. I grew up in Virginia and lived there until moving to California four years ago. I don't regret my decision for a moment, mainly because I truly love the life I've created here. I travel quite a bit for work and am in Los Angeles and the Bay Area often - I have a base of friends in both areas in addition to my home of San Diego, so you might find me having fun in any of the three on any given free weekend. And when I have fun? I do so with an absolute vengeance.
I'm perfectly happy getting my hands dirty building an art project with friends during the day and then putting a over-the-top outfit on for the evening. My closet will never be big enough, but I promise I will fit in at any social occasion and I'll always have something perfect to wear.

We all have baggage from our past. Our present happiness depends on how we carry it. I am looking for someone who is happy with life, and not dwelling on the past. I could sit around and only be a mom for the few remaining years my teenage boys will be at home, but I think it would do them a disservice. I'm extremely liberal, politically-speaking, but know and love some people who think fairly conservatively. I don't think they're evil, but conservative thinkers may find me frustrating. It also just occurred to me that the fact that I try to avoid meat may really bother some people. I don't judge people who are not vegetarians, and live with teenaged meat-eaters--we get along very well. My decision to avoid meat is probably best saved for a future conversation. I do occasionally eat fish and shellfish, and don't stress out about the possibility of chicken stock making its way into food I order when I'm out. I just try to avoid meat. :)
I have just completed my third marathon, and have started training for my fourth, so I'm a little weird about running, but not obsessive. In my ideal world, I will find somebody who will run with me (slowly) sometimes, but will cheer me on if he doesn't want to run. By slow, I mean I am extremely slow (the tortoise won, remember). I recently started climbing (indoors) with a friend, and would do it a lot more often, if I could find the time!
The most important relationship goals for me are respect and friendship. I am not lonely, and I'm busy, but life is short and can be even happier when it's shared with someone. Since I know Match.com works, I'm stepping back in to see who turns up.
