Date men and women from California, United States. I am 69, single, and getting very close to retirement from my work as a wildlife biologist. I am a progressive liberal, still very idealistic, and am relatively healthy for my age. Once you get to know me, my 5 foot 5 stature won't matter much. If you dig the Bush's, Chaney's, the Palen family joke, Glen Beck, or listen to Rush and Hanity Radio, stop reading now because I'm not your guy.
I totally like to take long drives with no destination in mind. If you enjoy this kind of adventure, then all we need is a picnic lunch, an ample supply of Diet Peps or?, a good pair of binoculars and spotting scope, some field guides, and a willingness to stop often to view and smell the flowers, or get a better look at a bird or animal in the bush, then we definiteley just might hit it off. A little bit zany and adventurous companion, my dog Logan, and a map to find the back roads off the beaten path will definetely create fond memories to share. Getting lost is part of the trip and short walks are usually a part of the adventure. After your first trip with me you just might see nature and our environment in a whole new light just as I do. Expect the unexpected. It’s a great way to relax and rejuvenate the sole.
I enjoy working in my yard at home, but never seem to have enough time to finish. My home is on a creek so the yard blends in nicely with the natural setting. Wildlife such as flocks of turkeys with young, raccoons, possum, skunks, ducks, hawks, and woodpeckers, to name a few, are always around. I have to make sure all is clear before letting my dog out for exercise lest he get himself sprayed by a skunk again, or scare heck out of the turkey broods.
I have a large Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly colony in my yard as well. My grandchildren have witnessed the entire life cycle of these terrific butterflies. That’s another story and another 4000 words at least.
I have lots of interests and not enough time to enjoy them all. I am a terrible housekeeper and since I live alone, don’t give it the priority it should have. I love sport cars and old cars. I have two basket case Model A Fords (a 1928 touring and 1930 roadster pickup). I hope to one day restore at least one of them. A basket case is a car that has been taken apart so must be put back together again. My other cars are also old, but are nice looking Porsche 4 banger convertibles.
On most any given weekend from Mid May to late October, you can join me and Logan up at my Echo Summit cabin overlooking Lake Tahoe. From there we take leisurely walks to a nearby pond so Logan can go swimming and do some retrieves. Then we take the short drive over to Echo Lakes for another dog swim and an ice cream for me from the Echo Chalet. It’s always best with my companion or even when my grandchildren and the rest of my family visit the cabin.
I enjoy cooking but am not good at it and can really make a cooks mess. I really enjoy cooking together with that someone special. Food always tastes best when its a team effort. Actually some of my stuff comes out pretty good.
I have been to Japan (1968, 70,71) and want to return. Would like to visit Italy and the Galapagos Islands and other exotic destinations. Mexicok, Baja California, is a frequent camping destination with my lifelong friend and his family from high school.
