I'm a very outgoing, social, motivated, honest, compassionate, and loving. I'm close to my family. I'm a hard worker. I also spend a lot of time doing volunteer work, especially working with animals.
I spent 5 years in New York establishing my career and living the "big city" life, but now that I've been in Birmingham a few years, I am becoming more interested in settling down and pursuing a relationship. Listening. This probably explains why so many of my friends call me when they are having problems...I'm a really sympathetic, good listener. I will drop anything to help a friend if they need me. I am very kindhearted (which, admittedly, can sometimes be a problem...because I always want to see the good in people, rather than recognizing the "red flags.")
Six things I could never do without:
I think it's a requirement to list God, right? So that shouldn't have to count as one of my six....which are: my family, pets, music, eyeliner, cheese, and the color red.
Things I like:
Music (all kinds), movies, performing arts (ballet, theatre, and opera), visual arts, antiques, satire, travel, spending summer weekends at the lake, boating, beach trips, sunshine, rock concerts, picnics, wine, and dancing. (Specifically, I have taken lessons in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and belly dance (yes, you read that correctly), have taught beginning ballet to children, and have made a very poor attempt at learning salsa. Ha!)
Favorite Music:
I am OBSESSED with music, so this is a hard one... I'm in love with all 80s music (especially "80s Hair Bands"), old school hip/hop, and classic rock. But I pretty much like everything from classical to rap. Not a huge fan of country music in general, although there are a few country songs I do like.
Favorite Food:
Cheese & pasta! I love Italian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, French & German food!

I moved here from Australia two years ago for work. I forget sometimes that I sound different from everybody else and wonder why people look at me strangely when I speak. You might think my accent is cool, but I like yours better. I think I'm the only Australian in Birmingham, so it's my job to break the stereotypes.
I'm told that I'm uncomplicated, observant, good natured, independent, honest, patient and open minded. I work a lot so I like my weekends to be low key. I'm not lazy but I'm very good at doing nothing and I like not being busy all the time. A couple of drinks and some people watching is my idea of a good afternoon.
People close to me tell me IРІР‚в„ўm funny, but it takes a while for that side of me to come out. I have a somewhat dry and sarcastic sense of humour, and I will be the first to laugh if somebody falls over (and also the first to feel guilty about it). That being said, I canРІР‚в„ўt handle public embarrassment, so I find those РІР‚?What Would You DoРІР‚в„ў type shows horrifying.
IРІР‚в„ўm a scientist, which means IРІР‚в„ўm a little bit nerdy and a little bit socially awkward. It also means IРІР‚в„ўm observant, I like understanding out how things work, and figuring out how to fix things myself (sometimes this doesnРІР‚в„ўt go so well but thatРІР‚в„ўs why we call them experiments). I find science also helps with cooking skills.
I don't play sport because I was absent when they handed out coordination skills, but I like watching sport. I can't quite get into College Football (not a popular opinion around here) but I do like baseball.
