Meet men and women from California, United States. There are two sides to me that have always been (somewhat) at odds over my life. On the one hand I am drawn to a challenge, an adventure, learning something new, traveling somewhere I’ve never been. On the other hand I gravitate toward the deep rhythms of a settled life. I love family, home, connections, coming together with others for a common goal.
I spent my 20’s and 30’s living in housing cooperatives, working as a bicycle messenger, immersing myself in theatre and arts scenes. I bounced between the east coast and west coasts. I lived in London for a while. I produced, directed, and acted in plays.
When I married and had kids in my late 30’s and into my 40’s, my life trended more toward the settled. I found a career in software that satisfied both the settled side and adventurous side – which was writing software in Silicon Valley at start-ups during the dot-com days. That was a great ride but I made a shift about five years ago. I’m now working in IT middle management producing software. I found a niche for myself that requires less work time and more family time. In the end that is the balance that I preferred.
I don’t require a lot of stimulation in my daily life. In fact, for me, less is more. A good week for me looks something like this. At home: spending quality time with the people I care about. At work: adding a good idea or moving something ahead. And then when I’m on my own, at odd times, coming across a new idea or rediscovering an old one. Or, sometimes consciously, sometimes not, discovering a new place or rediscovering an old one. That’s a good week.
Right now I am in the middle of raising my two girls (ages 10 and 16). I’ve never had a more satisfying experience in my life than raising my two kids. My marriage was more complicated. But with all the complications of an imperfect marriage, I loved the feeling of banding together, of having a partner in crime to come home to every day. I would like to do it again – and hopefully be better at it the second time around. That’s why I am here.
Free time includes exercising, reading, hiking, and (OK, OK I admit it) watching baseball and basketball. Over the two years, I have a new found Buddhist meditation practice that seems to be adding really good things to my life.

My core spiritual path is the Diamond Heart and I also draw Buddhism, mystical Judaism, shamanism, and Tantra. I know it’s a lot but what else is there that is of greater importance. Perhaps love.
