Date people from Santa Clara, United States. NOTE 1: Photos were taken in Fall, 2009, and Spring, 2012.
NOTE 2: So that your time is not wasted reading my profile, you should be aware of the following in case it is a deal-breaker for you. After several years of therapy, my spouse concluded that she is gay and now lives in southern California. We remain friends – nothing less and nothing more – and there is no possibility of resuming the previous relationship.
Occupationally, I am a professor at Santa Clara University, and that role is a large part of what defines me. It is a very gratifying calling, and I thoroughly enjoy helping young people get a start on a fulfilling career/life.
I enjoy engaging in conversations about a wide variety of issues. For example, I recently read “infidel” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. What a remarkably bright and extremely brave woman, who survived the extreme cicumstances of her birth and childhood in Somalia and Kenya to become a world renowned advocate for Muslim Women’s rights and human rights in general.
I believe I am a very warm and “real” person (with the “right,” other person). It takes a while, though, before I will “share” without reservation.
I do like to keep fit, and thoroughly enjoy playing racquetball 3 times a week. I would be eager to develop additional sports (and other) interests if you have some you would like to share.
While I have never had children, I do like kids and young people (generally).
My interests are very eclectic, as reflected in the list below of some things I’ve most enjoyed doing or would like to do:
-Going to the Ojai story-telling festival. Never knew that people just standing on stage, telling a story, could be so enthralling. What a treat!
-Visiting the Henry Miller museum in Big Sur. With its forest and creek and trails and waterfalls -- how nutritious for the soul! Both serene and awesome . . .
-Attending a poetry slam. Personally, I thought it was kind of funny. But that’s probably not what the slammers intended. (They were very, very serious.)
-Still have not taken a workshop at Esalen (Big Sur again). Not a first-date kind of thing, but I’d love to spend a day or a weekend there with a close friend.
-Would like to go white water rafting or kayaking again (on a #2 or possibly #3 river, no more, thank you).
-For the longest time, I've wanted a partner to do the Vermont Fall Foliage (bicycle) Tour.
Extra points if you:
-Play racquetball.
-Can't help but laugh when you think of certain Monty Python skits (or Fawlty Towers for that matter).
-Would go way out of your way for a slice of genuine NY pizza. (Late word: I've found the real thing, here in SJ!)
-Like/have dog(s)
-Find Jane Olivor to be incredibly romantic
Here are some of the qualities I value in a woman and hopefully, to some extent, offer in myself:
-Smart, but not necessarily intellectual.
-Possibly in a professional career.
-Works full-time or perhaps is semi-retired.
-Assertive, but not aggressive.
-Empathetic.
-Winning personality.
-Attractive – a bonus, but not a necessity.
Meet men and women from Santa Clara, United States. I like California, all the things you can do here, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I'm an easy going guy but some of the time I enjoy tinkering with something around the house to modify or fix it. Other times I just like to kick back and relax. I don't do much reading, mostly short technical articles or I might be surfing the net on my computer. I enjoy a walk in the park, watching things happen and like dogs but don't care for cats too much, wouldn't want a cat in the house. I have a good sense of humor and like others who have the same. Being new to this kind of thing, I'm just looking around to see what there is to see and how it all works.
