Meet people from Pasadena, United States. i've spent my entire life in the visual arts. i mostly work with clay, but am versed in bronze, printmaking, painting, welding, etc. my father was a successful artist during the middle of the last century, and my experiences with him had a profound impact on me. i''m constantly dealing with carrying on his legacy, from archiving his work to photographing it for exhibitions to meeting with art dealers, etc. i grew up in a pretty amazing world and am honored to be a part of it. i spent my childhood in museums and galleries, looking at every kind of art. being the son of a surrealist was strange, and wonderful!
I'm in the trades, i'm a contractor. i do anything from landscaping, to roofing, to complete remodels. it comes naturally to me as i've been working with my hands my entire life. i have built a few studios and a house for myself before settling in to my present space. My crew members are like brothers to me. They are quite skilled and I am proud of them. When we take on a new project, we are committed to completing it on time while paying attention to the smallest details.
i've made my living assisting artists, teaching artists, and teaching art to students of all ages, most recently at pasadena city college. i also photograph artwork for a living. i've photographed for museums and famous artists, and anyone that needs a really good image of their work.
my latest personal projects have been large scale ceramic sculptures (up to 8 feet tall.) my last show at a prominent LA gallery sold out. (i was almost able to pay off my credit card!!) i also make miniature sculptures that one could wear. i live and work in the same house i grew up in, located in pasadena, close to the rose bowl.
as a child i spent my summers and any long holidays on my family's ranch in the central valley. i drove the harvest, and herded the sheep, and repaired, the always breaking machinery. sometimes me and my cousins would sneak off and swim in our lake. i still like to visit and help my family in any way possible. it's a very beautiful place. Though we are ranchers we also have had a dream to build a planned community on a 1500 acre parcel of farmland we own. We are in the final permitting stages of the project and are quite proud of it. The community will have a nature preserve and open spaces far larger than are required by government regulations. We will build 5000 dwellings, many of them live-work. All of the homes will be connected by bike and walking paths. A rapid transit system will access the community directly. We have planned many parks and recreation
i was classically trained (the oboe,) and have a soft spot for classical music and oddly bass instruments (as in the opposite of treble,) as my sister plays the cello and my brother the bassoon.
i love to meditate. the form i practice is called zazen. i have been "sitting" for many years, and yet realize that i am just a beginner. i'm fascinated with the internal landscape, and love to traverse it. something about watching the breath... it's not to say i'm not well traveled. i've been around the world a few times, and have had many wonderful experiences. we exist in an infinite universe, both internally and externally. i enjoy them both equally, that's all. i have been wealthy and poor, the quality of experience is what counts, and money doesn't change that. having a bigger carbon footprint didn't bring me joy. opening my heart did.

I consider myself to be free-spirited, extremely open-minded and deeply spiritual, though not in a religiousy way. I spent most of my life (especially the last 20 or so years), trying to find the meaning of life. know who and what God is, what comes next and so on. I discovered that it's so true that if you want to know something bad enough and you ask the right question in the right way you will definitely get an answer. With lots of reading, deep introspection, yoga and meditation I have leaned that who we are, why were here and where were headed, is more extraordinary than I ever imagined. The really wonderful part is that it's so much simpler than is generally understood. Being the person that I've become I care very deeply for my fellow man and always try to interact with the world with the mind-set of,"how can I help or what can I do to make a difference!"
From a spiritual perspective I love being a dad. And to me there is no greater privilege than to be entrusted with the care of another human being.
As to the kind of person I'm looking for, I've pretty much decided to open my heart to a loving mom who absolutely adores her children. Since I love kids, and being the quintessential family man, I thought, "what could be better than experiencing the joy of life as part of a loving family."
Of course, if it turns out that your looking for the same kind of life that I am, it's pretty much a given that you'll be someone who truly loves life, has a kind heart, is rarely without a warm smile and is always looking out for ways to bring joy to those around her. Important note- After giving it some thought I decided that I might as well get this out in the open now. First, you should pretty much disregard the fact that I'm 49. Age is relative! (I guess you could say that I'm a big, playful kid at heart) You'll see what I mean! Second, you have to like to kiss or be kissed, "A lot!" As often as I can I want to look into your eyes, pull you close, softly touch your face and tell you with a kiss that there is no other place in the world I would rather be than in your arms. Meet people from California, United States. I am a kind, caring, giving and compassionate person. It has been a way of life for me since childhood and I see no reason to change. To me, it feels good to do good.
I do my best to take care of myself physically. I workout and live a clean and healthy lifestyle. (OK, I love mocha frappaccino's and other sweet or chocolate stuff, but I TRY to burn off the cals.) I don't drink, smoke or use drugs. I can act pretty crazy...in a fun way,,,without any "help".
I like to travel. Sometimes it's just a quick getaway to La Quinta, Santa Barbara or Vegas. When more time is available I enjoy New York City. (I spent a lot of my youth in The Bronx with the paternal side of my family.) I also love the warmth of a seculed beach, the dining and nightlife of the city, or the natural beauty of The Florida Keys, Negril, Hawaii or "?" Near or far I find pleasure in fine dining, vibrant nightlife, or just "winding down" now and then. Maybe an afternoon beach cruise on my Harley. Whatever the mood calls for is good. (Just cuddling under the blankets on a stormy day is time WELL spent..)
My interests cover both ends of the spectrum and every color in between. From the more "refined" such as museums and black-tie charity fundraiser dinners, to a motorcycle charity ride , to hking and a photoshoot in the wildnerness. I am comfortable and "appropriate" in any environment. (Well, NEARLY any environment, except for my dentist's chair where I am quickly reduced to a first rate sissy. lol.)
I am semi-retired after a successful career in the leadership of a Fortune 100 company. My 20 plus years in "suit n' tie mode" enabled me to invest in a manner that has left the latter half of life "comfortable". (In stark contrast from my early years of "not enough food on the table"...literally.) But I've never forgotten my humble beginnings. And I remember to give back whenever possible through philanthropy and volunteering.
I do spend a fair amount of my time overseeing my investments (mostly income properties and equty investments). Additionaly, I founded a small animal refuge. (Animals have always been a big part of my life. My partner has to be OK with cats and dogs.) The shelter has become a very time intensive effort. But it provides a heart-warming feeling that is hard to equal.
I am affectionate and enjoy being close to one special person. Sharing the good things in life and being there for them during the bad. I am loyal when in a relationship and it is a relationship that I am seeking. (Not a trail of dates to occasionally meet with for a few hours now and then.) I am happiest as a "couple".
