There are so many ways a friendship can develop, and we're all so very different in our needs to growth, that it seems like the best way to get started is simply to trust--trust that we'll both know what we're meant to be to each other in the first five minutes of meeting--basically. Trust that we'll both be considerate enough to be truthful about our feelings. And trust that we'll both be strong enough to know that if the chemistry is not sparking and igniting a pilot light then and there's no reason to take it personally--God just didn't provide a gas line between us. For if two people have not BOTH reached that awareness then they aren't really ready to begin a healthy relationship, anyway.
Trust and be strong. Each of us is going to fail along the way. Be strong enough to hold out a helping hand; and be stronger still to take that hand, stand back up unshaken, and show your gratitude.
