I must admit I really don't like California and fell in love with New York but it was impossible for me to stay. Needless to say, I have no social life at the , moment, I find it very hard to meet people especially at my age.

The accomplishments I'm most proud of are my 2 kids. My son just got his master's at Un of Washington Seattle. My daughter is an attorney in Washington DC. She graduated from Michigan. Speaking of Washington DC, I HATE politics and religion, and refuse to watch the evening news.

I feel like a kid again except with a steady income and no one telling me what to do or where to be! I am so fortunate to be in excellent health which allows me to be as active as I want. Most days I run (road and trail,) bike and/or practice yoga at a beautiful meditation center nearby. I also volunteer in a 6th grade classroom (I was a 3rd grade teacher for 22 years.) Before that I was a senior counselor/supervisor and treatment program director at the Juvenile Hall in Humboldt County.
I also love music, art, reading, and learning about other cultures. I also like to flat water kayak and scuba dive although I haven't done the latter in about 10 years (75 dives mostly off boats in Hawaii and Midway.)
I am looking for a sincere man with intellectual, emotional and spiritual depth with an affectionate, humorous nature who would appreciate a cheerful, sensitive and loyal woman. I would like to find a best friend and sweetheart who not only would like to get out into nature regularly locally (hiking is good too!) but would like to travel especially on trips that involve hiking and/or cycling such as those provided by VBT, Backroads and REI. My camping and weeklong backpack trips are fond memories of the past. These days I prefer a comfortable hotel and meals cooked by others at the end of a day outdoors! I think it is also important to mention that I am totally able to pay my own way for these kind of adventures.
I have been to Italy once and traveled extensively 5 times to Mexico in the 70s (I even spoke Spanish fluently at one time.) I have also been to Hawaii many times. The Big Island is a favorite although I have also fallen in love with Kaua'i and plan to return there this Sept. to run the Kaua'i Half Marathon for the 3rd time.

I like being retired and not on a schedule. I love the great outdoors. I enjoy camping and RVing and want to do more. Taking a day trip can turn into a great adventure. A drive into the mountains or to the ocean---having a picnic---driving through little towns just to see what is there. I enjoy taking photos to remind me of good times and beautiful places. I use to enjoy dancing. I have sail boated in the past and have also motor boated with friends. I use to canoe. I enjoy swimming laps at the gym but I truly hate that treadmill!!! Haven't fished in years but would enjoy going with you.
