I think when you are in a long term relationship it's only natural that you lose a large portion of your identity ("the two shall become one....") When I became single again I thought it would be best to take some time to sort of "find myself" again. (Cliche, I know!) But - I really needed to be able to separate the things that I really like to do from the things that I were doing merely out of compromise. So - that's what I've done.
In the past few years I've discovered that, more than anything, I love my two (grown) sons. Helping them reach adulthood has been the greatest adventure ever. I've found that I still love going to football and baseball games, especially when my son is coaching, but I've also developed other interests. I love to travel, especially to the old European cities, as well as anywhere with a beach.I have developed an interest in wine and art (a natural product of my trips to Italy), and I also like to cook. (A natural product of the fact that I like to eat!) Not to worry, though - I am also a member of a gym, and I visit it regularly. I love to hike in the mountains, or just walk through the neighborhood in the evenings, and I have a boat that I use for early morning fishing trips. I really enjoy a good concert - the Paul MCCartney concert I saw a couple of years ago was the best. I love to read, and when I'm in the house, if the television is on, it's almost always on either "Investigative Discovery", an old movie on Encore, the Fox News Channel (I don't just watch Fox for the women, but it sure doesn't hurt!), or either the 70's music channel. I mainly listen to classic rock, with a lot of Carol King and Rachel Yamagata thrown in. I've been described as being nice, easy to laugh, with a kind heart. But please - don't mistake my kindness for weakness. I am an easy going guy who loves to have fun. I travel a lot with my sons, but I've also taken a lot of trips on my own. I would really like to find a sweet, caring lady who would be interested in sharing some of the adventures that life has to offer.

About me, I am a focused and driven person who is goal oriented. I have a job that I enjoy and a successful career to this point. Outside of work, I enjoy doing things with my own two hands. I’m an avid do-it-yourselfer and like home improvement projects. Some of my other talents… I'm a pretty decent cook and have enough domestic skills to keep things clean and tidy in my life. I have a healthy (sometimes silly) sense of humor and can certainly take a joke or two but can also dish it out too (so be forewarned)! On my cultured side, I enjoy taking in a good Broadway show or musical on occasion. I consider myself fairly independent and basically content in life. I’m not looking for someone to take care of me or wait on me hand and foot. It’s nice to have someone who cares and wants to show it and I’m good with that. I’m also willing to reciprocate for my partner what she does for me. Some other things, I don't mind going out on the town every so often (a club, shooting pool, a movie, listen to some live music) but for me there's no more comfortable place than just spending some quality time watching a movie or having conversation or just a simple walk hand in hand with someone I'm connected with. As for music, I enjoy classic rock and 80's and 90's music for the most part but I can listen to most anything live. If you're looking for a dancer, I'm not the best but I will try with enough liquid ambition! (unless it's a slow dance--that I can do fine!) What about religion??? Okay, I'm definitely of a belief in a higher being or power, but I can't say I spend a lot of time in search of what that is or means for me, I respect spirituality but don't feel any void for not being in a church pew every Sunday morning... I find solace in my personal connection with God.
So, what kind of a woman am I looking for? I guess for me, I'm typically attracted to a petite or athletic or slender or average figured woman... A lady who is attractive and tries to take care of herself is appealing to me. I do try to maintain some level of physical fitness so I hope to find someone like minded there. Not trying to be mean; but for something to kindle into a relationship there has to be a spark between us and the reality is that looks are the starting point for me! I know there are many women who feel the same way about guys too... I am also more compatible with someone who has some ambition and is career minded. A college education is a plus too but that’s not to suggest someone who hasn’t gone to college isn’t going to be right for me. I'm also good with someone who has a few interests of her own and I understand the concept of giving you space. When the time is right, affection and intimacy are also important to me. I think I am a guy that wants to feel attracted to you and have you feel the same toward me. Not looking to rush this aspect but eventually that part of a relationship is important to feel truly bonded and connected. Another final thought on that, I’m disease free and very selective about becoming intimate… I’m looking for the same in that regard.
I hope I will discover someone who compliments the person I am and is interested in getting to know each other before we get too complicated in the "where is this relationship leading" question? I'm open to the idea of marriage but it needs to be a mutual goal for both of us and one that would come after we really know each other well. In the meantime, I guess I'm just looking for someone willing to take it one day at a time without that pressure...
