Date men and women from Colorado, United States. The story so far: My family moved all over the country when I was growing up (eight states before I was in high school) so home base is sort of everywhere and nowhere. I graduated from CU in 2004, and since then have lived in Wyoming (for work), Indiana (for grad school), and Seattle (for the hell of it). Now I'm back in Colorado for the long haul. I missed this place.
I work in publishing and have a book-centric job, and I'm also a writer myself. I've published short stories, interviews, book reviews, and blogs, and I've taught freshman comp and creative writing at the college level. The goal is to eventually have the writing sustain me by itself, but these things take time.
As for the rest, in the interest of fairness, here's a short survey of what you could be getting yourself into:
Cons
* I don't ski (I prefer my bones unbroken) and rarely camp. Don't get me wrong--I love getting outside. I've kayaked. I run. I'll hike from sunup to sundown. It's just that at the end of the day I'd much rather have a mattress and indoor plumbing than a tent and a hole in the woods.
* I love talking politics and religion and people's personal lives out in the world, which Emily Post says is a social no-no.
* If the men in my family are any indication, in thirty years I'll have more hair in my ears than on my head.
* Reading and writing take up a lot of my time. Inevitably, this will lead to a few more nights in, at a coffee shop, or apart than you may ideally want.
* I use the word "dig" without irony. See below.
Pros
* I love to go out and be social--I need things to write about, after all. Happy hour is the most aptly named thing in the world.
* I won't judge you for spending a Sunday afternoon watching terrible movies on cable. How could I, considering I'll be watching, too?
* Dogs and old people dig me.
* I can hold my own at karaoke. I've won things.
* My text messages are grammatically perfect.
* I make excellent peanut butter hummus.
* A few times a year, I get the itch to drive somewhere I haven't been before. And if the iPod runs out of juice, I know at least a half-dozen stellar car games.
* My friends and family are rad, and I try to return the favor when I can. I've written and performed two wedding ceremonies, one for my two best friends who were marrying each other (nice when that happens) and one for my sister.
* Decent dancer. Well, more willing than decent, but at a certain point it's kind of the same thing. So I tell myself.
Could Go Either Way, Depending
* I've been pescatarian (I eat fish but no other meat) for about four years. I'm not preachy, though--it would be mathematically impossible for me to care less whether you eat meat.
* I'm pretty firmly liberal. Of course, I like to consider myself open-minded (I have conservative friends, honest!) but if you're a Facebook fan of Grover Norquist, it's probably not meant to be.
* I'm staunchly anti-cycling clothes. They're ridiculous on so many levels.
As for a potential match? Well, looking at the successful couples I know, I wonder how many of them would be together if they'd had to read each other's online profiles before they started dating. Online, it's way too easy to dismiss people because they're an inch too tall, or they like different pizza toppings. I mean, if you know all the words to "Regulate," we will definitely high-five, but then what?
I guess I value the intangibles: kindness and honesty, curiosity and thoughtfulness, stubbornness, self-reliance, silliness, a sense of adventure. Someone equally up for an impromptu road trip, a Friday art walk, a Saturday morning at the farmers' market, or a slow dance in the kitchen while the spaghetti sauce is simmering. Can we teach each other new things? Can we surprise each other? Can we compare people watching notes? Can we be comfortable with each other not saying anything, just sipping coffee and reading the paper?
Meet someone special from Colorado, United States. I'm pretty level-headed though I may sometimes say things to troll people or to make a point or a joke or to just throw something completely ridiculous out there.
I keep hoping to find someone who wants me while I want her as well. Too often it seems to work one way but not the other and I have been on both sides and it sucks!
Someday I hope to find the woman with whom I can share helping each other fight their demons and relish calm quiet moments cuddled together... also kissing ;-)
Date people from Colorado, United States. Hello!
I am someone who loves to learn and experience life. I enjoy the city, music, and I love to drive.
I believe in living health and eating right. I work out a few times a week, walk with a pack, and ride a bike to keep in shape. I cook and learn new meals because it is both healthy and economical. It is rewarding to eat creme brulee or Stilton souffles on a student budget!
My faith is important to me, and I am where I am because of that. A few years ago I felt I needed to work for a local church. After my time there came to a close, I decided to finish college. I am now going to school to be a financial analyst, and I am really enjoying it. I am glad to be heading in the right direction.
Other information:
When I drink I usually have 1 or 2 drinks at the most. I want to race automobiles someday; the most fun I have ever had was on a track.
Fun facts:
-I use different coffee cups depending on what I am working on.(sometimes)
-I like bullet points.
-I have a few house plants because I watch Ted conference talks.
-Japanese Kanji and I are becoming good friends.
What I am currently listening to:
Bach - Concerto for 4 Harpsichords, Strings, and Continuo in A Minor, BWV 1065: I. (Allegro) |
[Long title, but it R O C K S !]
Poison Pro - Innovate (Original Mix)
[I really enjoy it about 3:20 and on]
Monkey Majik - Change My World (Radio Edit)
The Patient - Rockabye Baby! (Performed by Rockabye Baby!)
[The continuous dissonance and resolving from 2:48~3:39 builds a tension that continues through the rest of the song]
Nessun Dorma sung by Pavarotti
(So much feeling put into the words of this song)
I am looking for someone who is honest and has a sense of humor. A woman of character who is someone who wants to learn and grow as a person, and her faith to be important to her. I am also looking for someone who enjoys conversation, music, and spending time together.
Meet single man from Colorado, United States. Good evening. Thank you for stopping by. 50% of my time is spent in Colorado. I would call it home base from which most of my adventures begin. I do live in New York Wyoming, and also Alaska at different times of the year. So I am on the go quite a bit.
I will say right away that I have no expectations for what I may find by using this online service. Connections, friendships and relationships have to have a natural spark in order to go anywhere. That all important chemistry that can't be forced or faked is impossible to predict from a few pictures and a quick summary of one's self. The activities I participate in may not reveal to you the content of my character, but here is short list of things that I enjoy:
Skating, cycling, climbing, tennis, yoga, collecting leaves, taking pictures, playing in the mud, playing in the snow, playing in the rain, cooking and eating, and cooking and eating, concerts at RedRocks. Oh there is more, so much more, but that is a start.
Like I said, I can't tell you what I am looking for, because it isn't something that I will know when I see it, but rather I will know it when I feel it. The family relationship in my world is solid and very drama free. Everyone does what they can to help one another and to help others outside of the family too. It is not about recognition or feeding the ego. It is just something we do and then quickly forget about it and move on. It doesn't have to be something huge. If someone has a genuine need, and we are in the position to help, then we do. You don't have to be the same way, but just know that it is something that I will probably always do as long as I am able.
I guess in order to truly start to know one another, we have to start a dialogue. So don't be shy. If you have a question, just go for it. I don't bite. Until then, wink if you have a twinkle in your eye, but e-mail if you want a response....
Date a man from Colorado, United States. I moved to Boulder from Richmond, VA to attend CU. Once I finished up I knew Colorado was THE place for me. The 300 days of sunshine, the mountains, the people, whats not to love?
If i had to describe myself i would say I'm laid back, fun, and loyal.
I work for start up here in Boulder and spend my spare time climbing, running, biking and golfing... an outdoor enthusiast of sorts. I also enjoy the occasional happy hour and concert.
Traveling is hugely important to me. I have traveled in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean and have every intention to continue my adventures aboard!
So if you are interested in these types of activities give me a shout.
Cheers,
Justin
Meet a soulmate from Colorado, United States. I grew up quickly being centered around team sports in Northern Wisconsin and having no siblings close in age, am a huge fan of Wisconsin sports and oddly enough the Chicago Cubs. I went to UW-Madison where I played quite a bit of hockey and studied law (still trying to learn as much as I can) and I am currently going to UC-D to try to finish up a few things. I am definitely still a cold weather person and love winter, I think the winters here are alright but I thrive in frigid temperatures. With that being said, I really miss playing hockey and try to play whenever I can out here.
Aside from the normal Boulder life I like to just be laid back and can have fun doing just about anything. I work for one of the best running companies in the nation. I would rather be in a laid back atmosphere than a loud, crowded bar any day of the week, but will still venture into those loud, crowded places once in awhile. I am a huge fan of live sports and go to as many games in Denver as I can and I will definitely be at the Av's games quite often but for the record GO WINGS!
I am looking for someone that doesn't take life for granted. Enjoying sports whether watching or playing is definitely preferred and the ability to converse, relax and just have fun is an absolute plus.
Date men and women from United States. I am easy-going, I have a dry and sarcastic sense of humor. I don't say much unless it's worth saying. Not really into sports, but I enjoy a good game and have a competitive spirit - I work very hard and am sometimes obsessive in my endeavors. Mostly, I hang out alone unless I'm working. I like lots of quiet time and stay away from crowds unless it's appropriate... though I do enjoy good times with other people. I have been self-employed for the last 8 years as a partner of a stringed-instrument repair shop in Boulder. I also work as a musician which takes up a lot of my time. Just looking to meet new people and friends. I like people who are curious, brave, and have conviction. I do not like people who are oblivious to their environment, are dependent on others, or talk frivolously.
Meet someone special from United States. My friends would say that I am a motivated individual that is always happy. I was raised playing sports and continue to. I would rather be playing than watching. I love the outdoors and enjoy doing anything outside whether at the beach or in the mountains. I am a huge fan of surfing, body surfing, scuba diving, skiing, back country skiing, biking, swimming, and a tons more. I also really enjoy mountaineering. I have completed a number of 14ers so far. I have also done a number of triathlons. I'm am the happiest when the people around me are the happiest and those people tend to be my friends.
I was born in Colorado and moved to NOR-CAL where I was raised. Loved the sun and water so much I went to college in SO-CAL. After college I moved to Aspen where I was a ski bum for 4 years. At the end of four years I needed something new, a challenge for my mind and a place that would teach me what I needed to know to start my own company. To accomplish this I left the wonderful place of Aspen and moved to Boulder, where I earned my MBA. I graduated and still love this town and so I am still here and will remain here for a while longer. I have yet to start my own business in Boulder, but I am doing a challenging job that I enjoy and working for a great company. I love the food, I love the outdoors, and I love the town.
A few things about me. I love food. I eat as much as I can and pretty much enjoy everything. A few mottos I go by are;
"I'll try anything once"
"Live, Laugh, Love!"
"Nothing is Impossible"
"Be Happy"
"Life is Choice"
Message me if:
You love water, the beach, the mountains, and the snow. You are competitive, but can also sit back and enjoy the experience. You love to play around, go to the movies, and more than anything enjoy playing in the sun. If you can always show a smile and look on the positive side of things. I want a partner that attempts to grow as a person everyday, who has values for themselves and looks for values in their friends and loved ones. Someone who will laugh at themselves before someone else laughs at them. I want someone who has a passion and knows what they want out of life. In short, I am looking for a best friend, that I also click with and have chemistry with. Someone that can challenge and push me mentally and physically. I wish to find someone, where going the extra mile is not needed and it is not a chore or job, but is something that I desire to do for that person.
Message me if you have something to teach, something to share, or for a challenge to be completed.
Date people from United States. First of all, I'm not your typical guy. I'm a pretty fun person that likes to have a good time and live for the moment. I?m easy going and extremely loyal to those that are close. I love to laugh and make people laugh and smile, life is too short not to. I can be on the sarcastic side at times. I have strong family values and look forward to having a family someday with the right person. I'm not someone who lives in the past, but have definitely learned from it! I?m looking for someone to enjoy life with and to grow with together through open and honest communication.
In my spare time, I like to play. Whether I go out with friends for a beer, bbqs, a movie, or just sitting on the couch watching a DVD, I like to both relax and have a good time. I am looking for someone who is not afraid to be them self and have a good time (including laughing at my dumb jokes), but also have an eye for the future. It is important that you enjoy an adventure, like trying new things, eating new foods, and traveling to new places.
I'm looking for a girl with a great sense of humor, a wonderful personality, and a contagious smile. Someone who shares similar philosophies, beliefs, and interests, but not so many they are basically a mirror image of me. I need someone who can introduce me to new things. I need someone who isn't afraid to question or challenge me. Someone who likes to go camping, hiking, out for a night on the town, or just a night in with a good movie. Someone who likes to go out with friends, who likes to travel at spontaneous moments. I'm a pretty big sports fan, so if you too like sports that's a plus but not a must (I can teach you to love the Buffs). Honesty is something I pride myself on and I would expect the same in return. I also think that friendship is very important. Having great close friends is a sign of a great person. Attraction is also key but that is such an individual thing, and there's so much that pictures just can't capture.
I recently moved back to Boulder after a two year hiatus and am ready to enjoy my favorite city with someone new. If anything caught your eye here and you'd like to get a drink drop me a line.
Meet single man from United States. To live with passion; to laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; to know even one life has breathed easier because I have lived. This is my purpose. (Modified Ralph Waldo Emerson quote)
I am looking for a truly nice lady who has compassion for the world. I love giving and receiving physical affection. The ability and interest to engage in intellectual discourse is a big plus. I must warn you, I have a distinctive laugh. You will laugh to too, trust me! :)
Date a man from United States. I just moved to Boulder from Hawaii about two years ago. I've had a few friends that have had some great success with this site and thought that I'd give it a try.
I am an U. S. Marine, who is here on a commissioning program and am attending CU Boulder. I love serving my country and believe that it has purpose. I love to travel and my job has taken me all over the world. I have a beautiful daughter that lives in Arizona with her mother. While I don't get to see her as often as I would like, we have a very strong bond. I come from a rather large family of six siblings. I am the first born which makes me #1. At times six siblings can be confusing, so we usually go by our numbers. We are very close and all have a strong sense of family.
I am kind of traditional. I believe in opening doors for women and always kissing each other goodbye. Trust is very important to me. I don't trust easily, but think that absolute trust is something that is important and can be earned. I've been bit before, and believe that if you really care and love someone, then that is something that is out of the question.
I love being outdoors. I would much rather go for a walk or participate in sport than watch T.V. ~ not to say that I don't appreciate being able to stay in on a Friday night, cook dinner and watch a movie. I appreciate health and exercise. I like to be wanted by my lover, and like wanting her. I like mid-day drinks, and going with the flow. I only drive fast when there is a good reason, and like the windows down and music up. I don't blush easily, but love it when I do. I think that 'spiral macaroni and cheese' tastes better than regular. I love Polaroid pictures. I don't dance very well, but am willing to rock it. Spontaneity is a wonderful thing and I'm all about it. I love to laugh, and enjoy sharing hurt cheeks.
I am selective when it comes to women. I guess that I'm a bit of a romantic. I believe in the spark, and that there are some people out there that just "flip it for you." I think that your significant other should be your best friend and confidant. I like women that have a strong sense of self and know who they are and where they want to go. I enjoy confidence and eye contact throughout conversation. The biggest turn on for me is wit. Women that are quick on their toes and can trip me up, immediately have my attention.
A great first date for me would be dinner and drinks at a restaurant where we can talk and get to know each other.
If you let me in, I'll make you grin...
Meet a soulmate from United States. I grew up a desert rat in Phoenix so big open sky and lots of sun are a part of me. I got claustrophobic the first few years i lived in the South. I was an all american athlete in college and physical fitness and constantly challenging my body are supremely important to me and I hope for you as well.
I 've worked everything from construction, to non-profit, to high tech consulting, to starting several businesses. I have an intense drive to experience all aspects of life.
I overuse commas.
I've traveled a good bit of the world. I lived in Central Africa for 2 years working for an investment company and running an NGO that served orphans and vulnerable children in the areas of health, food security, and education. I've been held up at gunpoint in the 'Congo and driven ambulance duty in Uganda. I've white water rafted on the White Nile. I've been to the end of the Nile in Egypt and stood in Tahrir square just one week before the Arab Spring started. I've walked across a portion of the Moroccan Sahara with only a guide and a few camels. I've toured bits of Europe and danced the night away at clubs in Amsterdam and Belgium. I stayed in Mexico for 2 months and raced against the national teams of several Latin american countries.
I'm currently pretty dedicated to work and spend most of my time at work, the gym, or developing my spiritual self.
I'm definitely looking for a committed relationship but want that to happen naturally. I'm honest to a fault, big on communication, and am very clear with my intentions.
I know how to play the Game, just don't want to anymore, hence this profile.
I'm looking for someone who:
Is in love with life.
Loves to read.
Is ok with only hanging out with the person you're dating a couple times a week at most.
Loves to travel.
Has ambition.
Doesn't necessarily want children.
Can dance.
Is not looking for a "mountain guide" Boulder boyfriend.
Cares about your physical well being, such as fitness, diet, energy, etc.
