While I love my trail running and knobby bike tires, I'm also trying to accomplish something with my life. So I got a phd, wrote a (technical) book that many consider the best in the field and now, though I'm not a professor, I'm being asked to help organize the big conferences in my field. So far so good.
I believe in good manners, mutual respect, serial commas, and (evidently) parenthetical remarks. I can fix a car, tell a joke, and plot a graceful escape from a boring social engagement.
