Date a soulmate from California, United States. I have been devorced a couple of times. I am a romantic.My highest postion in work that I have held is Manager. I have four children that all live in California. Three that speak to me and one that doesn't I also have three step Children all of who are not speaking to me at this time and I don't see that changing. I have a total of ten Grandchildren 4 Boys and 6 Girls. One of the girls I have never met. I am looking for someone who is fun to be with and enjoys day trips and cuddling and kissing. Is not afraid of going to bed with someone after knowing them for 2 or 3 months. But who doesn't expect instant romance. I have had Bypass surgery in the last 13 weeks but am able to drive anywhere I want. Would like someone who can drive if the distant is over 300 miles one way. I like childrenand try to see my Grand Children as often as I can but not an over abundice of time sharing. Would enjoy someone who also likes to sit at home and read or watch TV. But the TV has to be a secondary hobby. Don't like the TV on all the time.

Meet men and women from United States. I live on a small ranch in the mountains north of L.A. The elevation of my ranch is about 5300 feet, Spring, Summer and Fall are very nice, but the winter is cold, sometimes the temperature drops into the single digits. About a year ago I finished rebuilding my house, attaching the house to the foundation, taking off the old siding put on a new special cement siding. I also put in all new windows and doors, a new mud room, a new closet and a new laundry room, plus lots of good insulation.
I am quite spiritual. I have been reading a variety of spiritual stuff, e.g., The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, by Sogyal Rinpoche; Bagawad Gita; Tao te Ching, by Lao Tsu. The Gita is the hardest to muddle through, but I think that is dependent on the translator.
I am the first person in my family to go to college and this was the result of encouragement from my brother. He started college, but then got married, had children shortly later, and had to start to work to support his family.
After working for an oil company, and for the Dept. of Defense, I went back to get a Ph.D. I interviewed several places and decided the best place for me was back to Berkeley. My university research work was partly in the Geology Dept. and partly in the Chemistry Dept. I was fortunate to get a fellowship in both the Geology Dept. and in the Chemistry Dept. to work under a Nobel laureate, Melvin Calvin. Thus my Ph.D. thesis "Biogeochemistry of Mono Lake …………” crossed the line between Geology and Chemistry, i.e., Geochemistry.
After a Post-Doc at the U.C. (Berkeley) Space Sciences Lab and teaching for a year and a half in the Geology Department filling courses left by faculty on sabbatical leave, I accepted an appointment in the Geology Dept. at UCLA. There I taught and did research for 28 years before retirement.
Just now I am suffering through a rough period, I lost my beloved dog and best friend ( Diego) about a month ago to cancer. I know he is in his next life, and that I will never lose the love that he gave me, but it is hard to think he is gone.
At least this gives you a fair idea of what I have done with a part of my life. My best to you, Ted

If we never advance beyond the first date, or the second date, or beyond friends then that's okay. No harm done. We will have shared a moment of time and hopefully learned something new. Or, if we wake up one morning and find that we have shared a series of moments that added up to the rest of our lives on this planet, well that would be okay too.

I've never been unfaithful
I don't have a TV (so if you talk about TV shows I will probably have a blank look on my face)
I wear many hats (literally and figuratively. No, this doesn't mean I'm schizophrenic. It just means I'm very well rounded. I can be a carpenter, musician, gardener, scientist, artist, athlete, cook, counselor, computer geek, plumber, lazy bum....... What ever the situation calls for....)

Meet men and women from California, United States. Ok, now for the fun part, yeah, right, describing myself. I live in greater Frazier Park and work in Valencia. Really enjoy what I do and at this point in time I'm glad that when I retire will be my decision and not my employer's. My work day begins at 6AM. I know that there are some really great TV programs and if I only could stay awake, I, too, could converse about them. I mainly watch CNN (especially their Sunday morning shows), TLC (love Mystery Diagnosis) and I do record 2 and a half men.
When not commuting I find that I'm always reading several books (James Patterson, Tom Clancy to name a few), trying to garden and maybe even cook. Let's face it, cooking is more fun when you do it together. I am reading a couple of books on beginning bridge; it's the only game I want to play.
