I'm curious, intelligent, enjoy reading and have a good sense of humor. Growing up, I was an �Army brat’, moving every few years, living in both some interesting and not so interesting locations. My folks started their second career in California and I've been unable to move away ever since.
My passion is Architecture and I try to attend films and seminars about past masters and modern design whenever I can. My favorite architects include Lautner, Schindler and Wright.
Things I love to do:
Try new things, especially restaurants, movies, museums, concerts (classical and jazz mostly), shows and self improvement classes. (I'm currently taking a couple of history classes (art and the American Revolution), conversational Spanish and most recently, meditation).
Travel, locally, but would like to expand that with the right person. I like taking day trips to Napa and San Francisco and weekend trips to Carmel, Tahoe and San Diego. My current goals are to take cruises to the Acropolis and Alaska, revisit the whole of Europe and start to explore Mexico and possibly South America, which is why I'm taking Spanish classes.
I like to cook, garden, enjoy pets and am going broke feeding the neighborhood bird population. I'm always checking out cooking shows, magazines and books, looking for new recipes to test. It's always satisfying to take a recipe and tweak it to perfection.
I recently saved a wonderful cat from the pound and look forward to one day soon adopting my favorite dog, a Lab retriever. I had a chocolate a few years ago and she was amazingly smart, gentle and loving.
I’m in reasonably good health and anxious to maintain an active lifestyle. I enjoy going on walks, some hiking, billiards and golf. I go to the gym a couple times a week and have been going on local Sierra club walks.
I'm looking for:

My family came to Scotland around 1000 AD and blended into the Clan Donald, eventually becoming gentleman of the day. They crossed the water to America just in time to fight the Revolutionary War. That fighting spirit kept them going as part of the Celtic pioneer movement and eventually the bloodline ended up in Texas. My grandfather was a town father of Amarillo and a haberdasher to be reckoned with.
Oh, then there is myself - I retired young from the San Francisco Police Department, and founded a multimillion dollar security and private investigation company. Along the way, I also owned a restaurant. I now teach religion, arts and philosophy on a college level and own a production company. I take the role of father seriously and love to mentor my 17-year-old son.
Outside of work, I am the captain of my own pirate ship - I try to do the things I love and live my dreams! I play guitar and sing - a few sea shanties but mostly country and western or folk-style music. I love the wind in my hair so I get out on fast bikes or cars on straight country roads as much as possible. I can wear either a bandanna or a velvet captain’s hat - I am equally at home singing to the elderly in a retirement home or attending an art gallery opening. The pirate’s life has been good to me - I am healthy and proactive and love to climb masts and parry on planks. I am looking for my lovely - is it you?
