Date men and women from California, United States. Although this is a novel experience (writer joke), I am trying to be open-minded about this way of meeting people, while maintaining a bit of cynical humor. I tend to delete winks, as I am looking for someone a bit braver, who's willing to write a note and make some effort.
I consider myself to be bright, demonstrative, witty and generous, but I am not objective! I am looking for someone very special and don't expect this to be easy. In the meantime, I have a happy, full life that includes friends and a large, noisy extended family.
(Marc Cohn's song "True Companion" says it all for me.) I avoid desperadoes, grumpy old men, voyeurs, players...
I would prefer to find someone within my age range, with shared history, music, so on. I find it humorous to read that some men are seeking a lady who can be "comfortable in either jeans or a little black dress." I guess the bar isn't set very high with such criteria! My parmeters are more to intellect, individuality, kindness and wit, but everyone should have at least one pair of jeans! Also, for those who want to date women the age of most of your daughters, please pass me by. (I want to be with someone who is within a few years of my age, either way.) I am seeking my take on a mature relationship, with all of the pleasure, eye-locked conversation, private jokes, shared wisdom and mad love that implies.
Having recently enjoyed living in the familiar surroundings of my childhood in Denver, I find that I tolerate cold weather less every year, but will be in Denver from May till August, then to the Palo Alto area till next summer. My daughter and her husband will be doing medical fellowships at Stanford and I will be playing the role of new grandma! I plan to settle eventually in a warm southwestern US climate near my kids and their families once their post grad work is complete, (location still unknown, but So Cal is likely). I guess I'll resemble a gypsy for the next year. In my ideal scenario, I would spend part of the year in Denver and the other in So. Cal.
I love the southwest: the skies, the land. That's my US quadrant...
I enjoy sea kayaking, beach wandering, and swimming outdoors whenever possible. I am writing and consulting on occasion.
As for politics and religion: While I am not religious, I was raised in the reformed Jewish faith, but now don't actively practice any organized religion. I have unwavering liberal views but enjoy philosophical or political discussions. I respect others' beliefs unconditionally, though that may be a dealbreaker on either side.
Finally, I play no games not sanctioned by Parker Bros.
I am politely honest.
I prefer emails and delete "winks." (never respond to a wink, so you know).
Here's to adventure, travel, and lots of laughter.
And here's to us!
Cheers...
