Meet a soulmate from Alaska, United States. I moved up to Alaska in 1993 to find work as a mineral exploration geologist. I’m originally from northern Wisconsin and I moved up to Alaska after getting my geology degree from the Univ. of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD). I have made Alaska my home ever since. I recently dissolved my marriage to my wife of 17 yrs in December of 2011. Despite the divorce we remain close friends.
I have worked as a geologist for the majority of my 17 years in AK and much of this work involved me working in some really remote places in Alaska, accessible by helicopter only. The last few years I had a split residence with an office in Fairbanks and a house/home in Anchorage.
My interests/entertainment varies with the seasons, and includes alpine skiing in the winter and almost anything outdoors during the summer months. I really enjoy river rafting with my cataraft, which is a great way to get away. I am an Alaskan man so it is a safe bet that I hunt and fish and drink beer. I love to travel outside of Alaska. Tropical trips are fun but so are skiing trips to Whistler B.C., However, currently squaring up with the IRS, thus so no exotic vacations for me for at least a year.
I find it actually hard to say who or what I am looking for in a woman. One of my friends’ dads used to say “If she looks good and smells good and can cook good then she is good”. That’s a true quote. I would have to say that makes some sense. I really do not know who/what I am looking for. Cute, nice and accepting of me are the obvious ones, but the rest will be determined.
What do I find humorous? Animals, especially pets, always find a way to make me laugh. I have two 17 year old cats who are sharing the house with a new 1 yr old male Weiner dog named Oscar (roommate’s dog) who is terrified of the two cats….pretty funny stuff. These days everything is slanted in a funny direction.

My family and friends are a very important part of my life. I do not drink, smoke, and I’ve never even tried any drugs. I’m very aware of what’s going on with our country and I see the big picture. I’ve been very involved in politics, including working on some very high profile campaigns for Republican candidates. I can’t stand liberals or communists. Bunch of thieves. I’m unyielding on this and my belief in god. I can’t stand phony/fake people who look for every opportunity to step on you or stab a knife in your back to get where they want to go.
I’m by no means a perfect person. Lord knows I’ve made some bad decisions in my life. However, I think these experiences have helped shape me into the person I am today. I would like to meet someone who shares some of the same beliefs. Someone who can see me for who I am, and where I want to go. I would love nothing more than to be able to do the same for her.

I love the Food Network channel as it gives me ideas on what to try out and gives me tips on where I'd like to visit. Most recently, an episode inspired me to visit a restaurant in Chicago. By coincidence, one of my favorite bands were playing a concert and I went to visit Chicago for the food, the concert, and enjoyed Wrigley Field for a baseball game. I think the only reason why I exercise is to be able to enjoy food.
I'm hoping this is a portal to meet an interesting person that is intelligent, easy going, and just enjoyable to be around regardless of the activity.
Whether this turns into a commercial that a match was successful or not really doesn't matter to me all that much if I can meet some new people and make some more life-long friends.
