If after you have read in its entirety and feel we have much in common or that you fit the description of the man I'm describing, I would love to hear from you...here goes: I am a 49 year-old female, never been married (oops), who: likes to explore nature, has a handful of good friends, is able to enjoy solitude, dabbles in artistic endeavors, teaches children with special needs, and enjoys the company of pets.
I am a well-adjusted, compassionate, sympathetic/empathetic person and alas, I'm a liberal democrat. I consider myself a person with integrity, strong work ethics, sensitivity, and a sense of humor, albeit sometimes a quirky one . I am accepting of others religions (although I hold agnostic views on the subject) race, sex, etc. I value these qualities in other people as well. I'm not looking for perfect match,(I don't want to date a duplicate of myself), just interested in meeting someone who posesses a few of these characteristics.
Although I do enjoy going to an occasional, very occasional, party with friends and family ,I am not a social butterfly, so to speak. I rarely go to bars. I'm not a partier. After being divorced for over 7 years I am ready to begin a new chapter in my life, ready to start dating and find that special person to share the rest of my life with. I would like to meet people and have more friends but I am really hoping for a long term relationship. I am at the point in my life where I am ready to focus on what I want/need in life......can do this since my children are now not so dependent on me.
My kids are 24 and 18 and of course they will always be important to me ( I am a great mom ) but they are now independent in the sense thst they dont rely on me for day to day transportation etc. I do strongly believe and hope my partner does too that parenting should be a lifelong process no matter the age of our kids ! Having said that I am ready to focus on what I need / want in life.
My daughter graduated from Montevallo and is married with a baby, bought a house in Leeds, works part time and is a stay at home mommy. My "baby" is 18 and a Senior at Vestavia....he drives himself to and from school this year and has an after school job for 3 hours a day. The rest of the time he is very involved in church and spends most of his time with church friends (rarely see him except in passing !) I am very proud of both of them.
I love my house which I moved into in 2004 and is finally just about the way I want it to be thanks to my awesome handyman who can do just about anything I believe ! However I am considering that in the next couple of years I will be probably be looking at my options as this is a family home and I will be an empty nester, I will no longer need to live here for the school system. I am a "planner" but really have not yet been able to plan as to what will happen at that point.....just starting to think ahead a litte.
