I was born in Alabama, raised in Louisiana, thus red and white, and purple and gold all over,....and obviously conflicted at times. Returned to Alabama in the late 80's to pursue an advanced degree. I work in public service with the Federal gov't in a legal capacity in a rewarding and fullfilling, yet demanding job. Thus, I enjoy meaningful downtime, relaxation and recreation, and on occasion a little alone time to myself.
I'm independent, self sustained and not demanding. I am a Christian by baptism and by choice. Spirituality is an important part of my life and I apply my beliefs in an appropriate maner both oppupationally and in my private life.
I enjjoy simple things in life,...a good cup of coffee and a wonderful view,...pampering and playing with my grand-daughter,...a walk along the beach with a friend,...exercising,...doing yardwork,...light-hearted conversation,...or, just sitting in front of the fireplace. On the other hand, I also enjoy the somewhat more complicated things in life,...preparing for a challenging court case,..dressing up for and attending a social event,...preparing a good Sunday school lesson,...and traveling.
I really don't know if a perfect match exists, but I do believe strongly in compatibility and friendship. I'm looking for a friend, one who is honest and fun loving with an adventurous spirit to share quality time with. A friend and companion who has some of the following additional attributes: is trusting, undestanding, compassionate, humerous, natural, playful, flirtatious, spontaneous, confident in self and independent. Dates well,...first dates are generally awkward, understandably so. Expectations, nervousness and all that stuff meets reality. I'm open to suggestions, no set rules of engagement..., but, generally would prefer a comfortable setting, perhaps dinner at a familiar restaurant, or a walk in the Botanical Gardens-a place where we could actually meet, greet and engage in conversation one-on-one.
I enjoy movies (and watch almost no TV), but some of my favorites are Doctor Zhivago, Moulin Rouge, Cinderella Man, The Lost City, Woman On Top, The Notebook, Crouching Tiger/Hdden Dragon, James Bond movies, Ghosts of Grilfriend's Past, Gettysburg, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Platoon, Predator with Arnold, Sweet Home Alabama, John Wayne westerns, Clint Eastwood westerns, terrible 50's-60's SI-FI, and mysteries such as Alford Hitchcock and Sherlock Holmes-movies with an actual plot.
For music, I'm pretty much all over the board except for Rap. I enjoy Creedence Clearwater, Jimmy Buffett, Aaron Neville, Willie Nelson, Barbara Streisand, Kenny G., the Eddie Duchin Orchestra, Frank Sinata, Miles Davis, Tony Bennet, Classical jazz, 50's-60's R R, and all things cajun-leeze' bon ton temps roulle'.
I read occasionally during down time (I now prefer books on tape due to time issues) but recent reads incude Last Full Measure, Rebirth of a Nation, To kill a Mockingbird (the 3rd or 4th time), Ghost Soldiers, Letters Home from Vietnam, and all of James Lee Burke's Louisiana based books-on-tape-you just gotta love that Dave Robicheaux character and the south Louisiana atmosphere he creates.

I am into Boy Scouts as a leader. Forensic Dentistry is a second profession which I find fascinating.
