So now the cashier is smacking her gum- waiting for me to pay, and suddenly I can't focus on the questions on the SwipeOut machine. Credit or Debit? Cash back? Si or No? In my head, I'm trying to think of something witty to say. Something to extend our brief encounter. Because I saw you earlier. Over by the Fresca. And I wondered about you. Because you look like my type. (I determined that in less than three seconds.) And it looks like you've just come from work. Just like me. And it looks like you're buying dinner for yourself. Just like me. (Yes, I know cereal makes a lousy dinner.) And now you're standing behind me. So now's my chance to shine. I love it more than money, possessions, or se...wait, that might be going a bit overboard. You would never describe me as a Type A personality. I rarely, if ever get angry with people. I've lived in Portland OR, Prescott AZ, Ft. Lauderdale FL, New York NY but I keep coming back to Birmingham. Next to laughter, I love speaking from the heart with someone. Pretensions irk me. Egomaniacs are annoying and children and puppies are cute. I would rather live in a 1200 sq. ft. loft style home and spend the money saved on traveling. Adventure and life experience are much cooler than disposable goods from Wal-Mart. Pick a house out of Dwell magazine and that gives you an idea of the house I plan to build. The woman for me has always been the one that gives me butterflies. The only common attribute would be intelligence and attractiveness. I vacillate between trusting that God has someone out there for me and I just need to relax... to joining match.com and checking in daily. Granted I just joined so it's quite novel at the moment. It's almost like when the Christmas catalogs would come out for J.C. Penny and Sears and I would sit for hours looking at all the new toys. Not that women are toys, mind you. Things I've done: Shakespeare for the stage. Rafted the Grand Canyon. Climbed a 14, 000 ft peak in Colorado. Sea Kayaked in Mexico. Did a stripping Elvis routine for a fundraiser/roast. Backpacked for 3 weeks. Fasted for 3 days. Seen a therapist. Read lots of books. Made a movie. Made everyone I know laugh...maybe not everyone, let's say 95%. My perfect match would love unicorns, sunsets, and babies. Dating me would be like dating one of the cast of SNL during one of their good seasons. P.S. If you are lonely I feel for you. Loneliness can suck. But it will happen. Go for a nice brisk walk or a pet store and you will feel better as you wait for him to show up.
