Date someone special from Sausalito, United States. Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay
Transplant from everywhere else now settled down and settled in on what in Sausalito is called a floating home. I’ve always wanted to live on the water and it doesn’t get much better than this. As part of my reeducation, I’m still learning to say “blissed out.” But when being “blissed out” threatens to become “falling asleep,” the energy of the city is just ten minutes away.
A Little About Me: I am and continue to be optimistic about life, love, and the universe, all worldly appearances and life experiences to the contrary notwithstanding. Learning from life can be deeply philosophical and complex, often troubling and always challenging. But some things are, and really always have been, simple and straightforward. And the most obvious of these, to me at least, is that humans are at their best when they are able to share themselves with others; in short, by establishing and maintaining relationship commitments made to friends, lovers, and partners. So I seek out those who can be special to me and hope that among them will be one who can be to me, and I to her, all of these things, friend, lover, and partner.
Personal Stuff: Born in Honolulu, raised and educated in the Northeast, pursued an academic career in the South and Midwest, lived and taught a year each in Scotland and Hungary. Obviously I would have to choose the West Coast for retirement. Rootless pretty much sums up my life to date. I have considered my “place” to be wherever in the world I happen to be, and have traveled as much as my personal and professional commitments allowed. And while travel remains a priority, the Bay Area is definitely beginning to feel like it’s always been home. I have the usual array of interests; the performing arts (symphony, opera, theater) and the contemplative arts and sciences (stuff found in various kinds of museum). Awhile ago I began developing a very modest collection of modern graphic art. For those motivated by perspiration and pilates, I have to admit I am no longer training for a spot on the Olympic team. However, I do enjoy picnics, street festivals, wine tasting, brunch, good restaurants and good conversation. I also look forward to bed and breakfast weekends with someone special exploring the wonders of northern California and beyond. Finally, I also like being at home where I write occasionally and enjoy more sedentary pursuits like reading, listening to music and wildlife-watching from my deck. Sometimes I feel in danger of becoming a news junkie and could need help. I used to be a fair cook but I’m a bit rusty just now. Would make a good helper to someone accomplished in the kitchen arts. So, my digs are comfortable, there’s gas in my car, and my passport is current. What else is there to say?
Some Things You Should Know About Me: I am not now nor have I ever been pregnant. I’ve read all the books and watched all the videos but so far nothing has worked. I admit it’s been discouraging at times but I keep on trying. When I was three I sat on the beach at Coronado looking out at the shimmering golden cities of China just over the horizon, and began digging in the sand so I could create a route to the other side of the world. Since then I’ve been saving up for a backhoe to make the task easier. Finally, have you seen my inner child? He ran away while I was into those 12-step self-improvement programs I found on-line. Now I can balance my check-book, am on-time for all my appointments, and live within my means. But I don’t smile as much as I used to and… oh, there’s a knock at my door. Could it be him? Or you?
P.S. Just so you’ll know, the bird you see among my photos is not a pet but rather one of the “Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.” I include it because the parrot is clearly cuter and much more photogenic than I.
