I live with my 16 year old son who goes to Bryant High. My oldest is a freshman at UALR studying physics. He lives in the dorm and only stays with me during holidays.
I really like hiking and canoeing. I haven't camped out in a long time but I used to be a pretty hard-core camper. I was an Eagle Scout and I was in ROTC for 4 years so I know my way around a map and compass and I've spent more time outdoors than a homeless person.
Even though I love the outdoors I am not into hunting or fishing. I just don't like killing anything. If you are really into hunting or fishing we probably won't match.
My main hobby right now is my telescope. I'm always looking for better places to take it, or finding new gadgets that will help me get more out of it. I've been into astronomy since about 1985. I used to be a guest speaker at high schools to talk about the subject. So if you're ever on a game show and need to "phone a friend" with a astronomy question, I'm your man.
I am a very loyal and devoted friend. I'm the guy you want to call when your car is broke down on the interstate or you need to get that virus off your computer or if you just need to talk about your problems and get a honest opinion.
My life is an open book. I am comfortable discussing anything and everything. There is no such thing as taboo, or forbidden subjects with me. Whatever you want to talk about, I'm always happy to share.
I'm not really big into sports. I'll go to a game every now and then but probably not if it's 20 degrees outside. You'll just have to let me know who won. Not a big fan of watching it on TV either.
My parents were married for over 40 years. Ideally this is what I'm looking for too: a life-partner. So far, my quest for this ideal companion has not been very fruitful. Six years with my first wife, and 10 years with my second.
Oh, and my "kids" are not actually mine. They are my exes kids from her previous relationship. When she left, they decided to stay with me. Their real dad has been pretty non-existent in their lives, so they think of me as their dad. So I've been raising someone else's kids for the past 10 years, and I feel like I did pretty well. My oldest graduated high school with honors.
Some people have asked me my opinion about having kids of my own. While I am open to the possiblity of having children with someone new, I decided long ago that this probably won't happen, so I have been comfortable with this decision for a long time. So if you're looking for someone to have children with, I am open to it. But if you're not, that is fine too.
My ideal person is someone who is emotionally strong, independent, has a career, is affectionate (that part is very important), and can hold a good conversation. I really want you to be GENUINE! Be yourself. For example, I don't like a woman who wears too much make up. I want to see the REAL YOU! But I also understand that women just don't feel comfortable with themselves unless they are wearing SOME, so I'm fine with whatever makes you happy.
A few random things:
I love women who wear baseball hats and pull their hair through the back. I have no idea why. I just think its cute.
I also like to see women who dress comfortably. Jeans and tennis shoes appeal to me a lot.
I'm also not a big fan of crazy boots. If you have a big collection of crazy looking boots we probably won't match.
