When my daughter was barely speaking, I came home one day to find that my GF moved back to her home state through a note. It hurt me but not as bad as me trying to explain why she wasnt here anymore to my daughter for months.
At that point, I gave up dating and that was six plus years ago. I wanted to devote my time and my heart to my daughter since she only has one chance at a happy childhood.
In those years I taught her how to fish, introduced her to hiking and camping, watched her play sports and held her close at ever daddy daughter dance we could find. I wasnt the one doing the only teaching, she taught me a lesson that I wish i knew years pror. Through earning her love she taught me to treat every girl like i want my own daughter teated because in the end, every girl is somebodys daughter.
As she started gaining lots friends in her grade school I saw she was ready to begin her own social life so it was time for me to get on with mine. So at this time I took up roller skating for exercise and got pretty good at it. Next thing I knew, I was on Phoenix Arizona's all men's roller derby team. Its physical but fun and I enjoy traveling around the western US to play other teams.
Im happy and smile about my life, I just wish I had someone to smile and enjoy it with. The years that I avoided dating at all costs were productive not only because of the time I spent with my daughter but also because It allowed my to concentrate on work and build my future so I can retire at a young age, but what scares me is that someday my daughter will graduate and move out and ill be all alone.. So thats why im here!

I have been around the block a few times and I know what I want and where I am headed. Date someone special from United States. Ever see "Office Space"? That movie has managed to capture a piece of every place I have ever worked and put it into an 89-minute piece of film nirvana. I owned the DVD copy, but immediately picked up a Bluray version because nothing beats burning down your office building in high definition. Anyway, Peter is driving (more or less) to work and keeps changing lanes, getting increasingly frustrated along the way. That's where I am at with being single. As much as I like to drive, I want to ride in the carpool lane!
My AMC Stubs account has 17 movies on it since last July and doesn't include movies I've seen at Harkins or wherever. It has films from "Winnie the Pooh" to "Drive" to "The Dark Knight Rises." I even went to see "Snow White" by myself one afternoon because I couldn't find anyone to go with me who didn't think it was going to be a stupid movie. I rather liked it.
I do not live my life in a movie fantasy land, though. I just like to escape reality once in a while in a method that doesn't involve the introduction of foreign chemicals into my body. Once I leave the theater, I'm back. As cool as it is to see the 501st Legion do charity work for the children's hospital, I don't dress up as a stormtrooper on a regular basis (or at all, actually). Tony DiNozzo, I am not, but, to each his own.
Since my divorce, I have taken an increasing interest in sports. I've been a basketball fan a long time, but the last Stanley Cup was awesome. I am from California, so do not expct me to root for local teams. I'm actually a Bulls fan, but haven't picked a hockey team yet. I'm not jumping on the Kings bandwagon- my brother is an avid Sharks fan. We'll see how that goes.
The boys and I are trying to get back to Yosemite next year. I'd love to camp closer, though. There's just not much to do while it's so hot in Arizona. So, what are you doing here, you might ask. Long story, but being able to shoot is a plus. Recently, I built an AR and I like that having it won't get my front door kicked in. I also have a decent job, but, if i were to win the Powerball, I'd probably move close to the beach. On a recent trip to California, we visited Sunset Beach and it's calling my name again.
My Marine Corps enlistment kept me in the States and not the ones I wanted to see. I'd like to see New York, but I'd really like to use a passport to go somewhere. As I said, I like to drive, but trips to LA are getting a bit boring. Vegas, San Diego- anyone? Everyone needs a bit of adventure in their life, but not the kind that will get you on an episode of "Border Wars." As long as it doesn't involve jumping out of an airplane, I'll probably be good to go.
I'd like to meet someone who doesn't have to love camping, but can tolerate it enough to have a good time. She should know the difference between 'there', 'they're', and 'their.' Appreciation for 80's music is a plus. If she wants to sleep in while I sleep in, we can figure lunch out later. If she wants to sleep in when I get up at sunrise to change the oil, that's cool, too. I used to like a lot of regularity in my routine, knowing from one moment to the next what was going to happen. Not so much, anymore. Where will the adventure take us next- are you in?
