If you build a fire of straw and spirits it lights easily and will burn quickly for a while, but it will not leave any coals to keep you warm. Thus, when it’s out you will have nothing. On the contrary, if you start slowly with a small fire of tinder and spice it up with kindling you can then load it with hardwood and it will burn longer and hotter leaving you coals for cooking and comfort.
